a bit of a gloating/vent thread...

Hi girls,

I just wanted to share my malevolent female streak with you.

The backstory is this: my mom back home idolises my female cousin (to the point that a malevolent sibling rivalry has been instated between us because of it). She "loves" her so much that she insisted she should have been a bridesmaid instead of my sis in law. I told mom I will compromise to putting her as usher, just to keep the peace.

My dress is red and the bridal party is in black.

That same cousin allowed herself to call 2 of my bridesmaids "fuglies" solely based on their sizes (14 and 16), having never met them. She is usually disrespectful and tries to hiude everything as a joke when she gets caught. i don;t usually mind when I am cocnerned, but I absolutely hate her for insulting my best friend and my sis in law (OH is irate too). She also blurted out "so you want me to come over and do things for you on top of it" when I explained to her what an usher did.

Well, I told her many times she had to buy herself a dress in black, all black, nothing but black... after all, everyone needs a LBD.

well, I am so happy

she has provided me with the perfect excuse to kick her out of the bridal party and exclude her from closing the march and being in the pictures or right next to me...

the little booger has gone for.... drumrolll

MAGENTA PINK!

So I cna kick her out without my family telling me off for how "heartless, selfish and inconsiderate" I can be. She brought it all on herself.

Doing the victory dance right now!

Thing is, she's now gonna stand out by her absence!

Will your mum be really upset that said cousin won't be there?

Your cousin sounds like a drama queen - uninvite her - say that you have had to cut the numbers and if mum complains cut her out too.

    Good luck.

    LOL

Yeah Linda, the little prat was gloating about the fact that it was very clashing and messing everything up. I think she was expecting me to go furious but I was merely too busy laughing my !!! off and doing the victory dance. I know it's not a bravado joke, she showed me a picture on her MSN profile very quickly.

She is deffo coming, my mom has paid for her flights and hotel. So she won;t stand out by her absence. I won;t be making a fuss out of it: will just ask the rest of my loyal birdal party to make sure she is seated with all the guests before the ceremony starts and I will only mention it if anyone asks why she was not closing behind me like previously planned.

Yes, Horace, she is a Drama Queen. Me just thinks she is jealous... She is 20, not a very mature 20 at it.

overall, I also had a chief bridesmaid crisis a couple of months back. When she disappeared under the radar, my mom was like "have your cousin as your witness instead"! eeeek! Told my mum it could not be family members (I don;t know if it's true but it's believable enough to not be questioned).

In the end, I am going for a bloke as my witness: OH has a bestwoman, so I can have a bridesman.

Oh dear, she sounds like a nightmare, but well done her for ruining it for herself by buying a pink dress!! She definitely sounds jealous but at least you don't have to have her as an usher now, yay! I hope you have a wondeful day though and can't wait to see pics, Tiger xx

TBH your cousin sounds like a right little biatch, who cannot stand not to be the centre of attention.

I would be so tempted to still invite her, but on the day ( with the knowledge of your OH ) make a huge big fuss about her having ruined everything. You will get all the sympathy and she will get the bad looks:grin:

Jinky: I will only get sympathy from the English side and the French will think I am the self-centered one. Quoting a comment from my mom: "why do you bother so much with a colour scheme? no one forced you to dress your bridal party all the same... we don;t do that over here"

Another quote from my mom when I sent her a few stuff asking if she thought the cousin would like that: "I am not going to impose anything on your cousin, she has a very selective taste"

earlier in the year, I had an argument with my mom.

Cousin put down the preorgative that my family had the right to invade my 3 bedroom council house instead of staying at a hotel. Errr, my house, my rules... I do not want to get invaded and deal with them the day before my wedding.

Mom said:" if you can't receive people well, at least let me pay for their hotel and pretend you paid for it. People will appreciate it"

Errrr, I won't... We already had comments along the lines of "you cna afford it, you got 2 salaries", don;t need to flaunt money we don;t actually have.

I told Mom that her and my grandparents could have the house on our wedding night since we would not be there. To whcih my mom proceeded to say: "well you can leave it to us on the night before your wedding: go and sleep over at one of your friend's. it will be so muhc comfortable for your grandparents, your cousin and I"

I stuck by my guns and told her I had never heard of such a thing as kicking the bride out of her house the night before her wedding.

In the meantime, my cousin insulted my bridesmaids and OH;s sister and we both decided she was not welcome to stay over at our house due to her rude comments. Mom then said she would not leave the precious darling alone in a hotel (she's 20!!! not 5) so they would all stay in the hotel.

In the meantime, cousin's parents confirmed they were coming and staying at the same hotel.

Mom has just come back to me on the staying at my house thing: "yes you're right we will stay at your house on your wedding night, it will be more comfortable for us" when asked about "us" she included the cousin again. Errrr, you can leave her at the hotel, her parents are coming now!

Whose wedding is it? oh yes, I remember: mine!

Ok, I see its worse than I thought then.

If i were you I wouldnt care about the fall out, I would just tell everyone she is no longer invited.

And as for your mother, I think she is forgetting it is YOUR wedding.

i would be so mad if i were you:grouphug:
