Job advertisement

Options
A company called D H Data Ltd is advertising jobs nationally in every city and town by the looks of it. I have tried to find any info on this company as they ask you to contact them on an 0844 number. In essence you are paying them.
Call me cynical but why do they use an 0844 number. If loads of people phone them on the 0844 number D H Data Ltd are going to be making a shedful of money especially if the telephone interview is a long drawn out one.
I tried googling to get more info on the company but all I come up with is job advertisements for the company from loads of recruitment agencies. IMHO the recruitment agencies do not get paid until the person is employed so no cost to D H Data Ltd in the meantime. Maybe it is a totally legit operation or on the other hand it could be a scam1
Any opinions or input would be appreciated.

Only did a brief search but that page suggest that 0844 numbers are not premium rate and the owner does not seem to get an income from them.

And the names tie in with this post (#21) from the kc computers thread..
    Hi
Joined up here to reply to this thread :o

Me being a student saw this job on the job centre website and applied for it on the 18th August (along with a host of other jobs) to help me with my costs at uni etc. My housemate done the same thing. I emailed my cv and a covering letter to them. I got an email on Friday evening saying that I was picked for the role and to give them a call on a 0844 number and quote "DATA INPUT KEVIN CLARK".

So I gave them a call on Saturday morning and it was answered by a bloke called "Andrew" with a notheren accent. He referred me to their website and asked me to click on a few links to get the full job spec. Having done that I got an email from a bloke called Ian Johnson who wanted me to post a uncrossed postal order of £25 to him in tyne and wear and said our new website is http://www.nethomeworkers.co.uk/.

At this stage I lost interest. Apparently Im promised lots of work if I send him £25 all in the comfort of my bedroom.

My !!!!!! of a housemate on the other hand has sent off his postal order and he is promised a login Id and password before 7pm tomorrow to access their training material. Im really looking forward to tomorrow
they must have spent the last lot of money they scammed.

    Hello George2,

I'm currently investigating DH DATA LTD about their modus operandi - particularly about how they require people to call a metered 0844 number.
I've read your post and do you think you could forward to me the email you received?
I think it would be really helpful to conclude that they are really asking money to people.

Thank you very much for your help

    Have a nice day

  • I too received the same email yesterday (30th June) from DH Data ltd in response to an enquiry i made on a recruitment agency. I decided not to respond to the request of sending my CV as was doubtful of the legitamacy of the company... found nothing more than already listed in this thread so am convinced i was right not to bother... thanks
  • I got an email from DH Data yesterday but on reading this thread I think I'll steer clear. Reasons being:
    1) There is virtually no record of their existence as a company, nor website. Everyone has a website these days.
2)That name Ian Johnson that registered the domain name being the same as the guy from a previous scam. (See earlier thread post)
    3) The email I got came from a yahoo address, not a proper company address.
4)It didn't even have my name in it, suggesting a generic response.
    5) They're asking me to call a number which costs extra money. What company have you ever known to do that?
    6) £9-£11 is a lot to pay for simple data entry which is what has a lot of people interested.
    7) I'm a cynical git and this stinks of scam. There are a lot of people desparate for work at the moment who will probably call that number because they've nothing to lose, and may well only lose a pound or two but I would be amazed if DH Data is genuine.

Here is the email they sent me:

    HI

FURTHER TO YOUR APPLICATION FOR DATA ENTRY CLERKS / ADMIN / CUSTOMER SERVICE PLEASE RING 0844 5560314(LOCAL CALL RATE) ASAP & QUOTE 0934.

    LINES OPEN EVERYDAY 10AM - 6PM.

    ANDREW HILL
    RECRUITMENT MANAGER.

Who knows, maybe I'm doing myself out of some work but I doubt it. If anyone does ring the number it would be interesting to know the outcome...

(I rang it for 10 seconds and it rang once then beeped a bit and I hung up)
