I have just told them i am leaving because i am going back to sky, but i am only canceling my tv services, but i am keeping my phone and broadband with them,
told them that sky was cheeper all channels 3 boxes 2 sky + and 1 standard, they said apparently i am still in contract because i had another v+ box installed in january. so i have to pay £68.00 to cancel my contract, ok thats fine i said.
then i had to give 30 days notice  , ok thats fine so i had to ring sky back and arrange installation for 30 days time because i dont want to be paying two subscriptions, sky said thats fine.
so rang virgin cancelled my t.v services which ends on 27th june, then virgin said they will collect my boxes on that date, i have three boxes with them 2V+ and 1 standard.

me-well i was not made aware of this at the time
graham virgin-it was a while ago sir you may have forgot.

The V+ STB is technically on lease even though you paid a charge for installation etc , the box still owned by Virgin Media, who will provide technical support for it free of charge if a problem occurs for the life of a contract (where as SKY would not after 1yr of service with their sky+ service). Should the customer downgrade from the V+ service, the recording functions of the V+ box and access to all high definition channels and on demand content will be blocked, effectively acting as a standard V Box.We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Yes, sorry - I'm a V+ customer and was made fully aware at the time of installation that it was a one-off rental charge, so I won't get the money back should I cancel my subscription.
Them's the breaks, I'm afraid.0 -
Agree with above, V plus remains property of Virgin, that's why if anything goes wrong it is free of charge for a tech to come out and either repair or replace.
(by the by - you should have only had the 1st Vplus box at £49, should have been charged £150 for a 2nd box if that makes you feel any better?)
Isn't it cheaper to keep all servs with one provider - does sky also not charge a monthly subsciption of £10 per mth for their HD box? It also only records one other channel to the one you're watching and has half the recording space.0
