Home Insurance for house whilst renovating

Hi,
Were just about to complete on a new house.
Our new house needs a fair bit of work 2-3 months worth (New bathroom, kitchen, central heating system etc).
Also we have not yet sold our current house.
So the plan is renovate our new house whilst living in our current house until it is sold/new house is complete.
As usual a condition of the mortgage on our new house is that we need buildings insurance. We would also like to have some contents insurance also just in case.
But I have phoned my current home insurer and they won't insure the second property. I have also looked at second home insurance but that is all geared up to it being let for part of the year.
Does anyone know where I can go for insurance?
If all else fails I can probably get insurance from my mortgage company but its expensive!
Thanks

Your contractor needs to have a comprehensive contractors policy that covers the property for damage while works are underway. To satisfy your lender you need some specilaist policies to cover the buildings that would be availible through brokers.0
