Royal Mail recorded delivery

I ordered some products online and i received a dispatch email, along with the royal mail tracking reference number on the 16th May. As of today almost 2 weeks later i have still not received the delivery, and everytime i check the royal mail tracking code it says the basic "Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent first or second class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later." message.
Someone has been around everyday, so theres no chance of missing the postman with the package, and if there was surely they have to put a document saying we were out through the door?
Is there anything i can do? I have spoken to the company i ordered the products from and they seem to pass all the responsibility onto royail mail.
Thanks

Have you tried contacting your local sorting office as they sometimes don't put a card through the door? Think that would be your best option and if you still have no joy get back to the supplier, but they may tell you to make the claim. This may help you

surely up to sender to prove delivery, not you to disprove/chase RM..
almost 2 wks gone, i'd say its been lost, or propbably nver even sent? the tracking number could be just random, or taken off a slip they havent used, in order to show willing but keeping your money and doing nowt.
i would request refund as non delivered, and take up with your card co if they get iffy about it.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Recorded is not a strictly tracked service, it only shows a signature when delivered (sometimes
)
I would suggest to the company that the items have not arrived, it's their place to chase royal mail, but as previous poster stated, it would be an idea to give the delivery office a call and see if it's there.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Thanks for all the helpful replies.
I rang royal mail but there wasn't an option to actually speak to a customer service person, instead i had to go through the option of finding out the delivery office information, which meant i had to leave messages about the packagage and what information was left on the card? Half of it was useless as i didn't have a card, and i didnt get a phone number for the delivery office i need.
I managed to find out the number from other websites on the internet, but after ringing have me an option for redelivery, which i couldnt do as i didnt have a card and to phone customer services which i had done previously.
Who thought finding out where your package is would be so difficult?

You appear to have ignored all the helpful replies! Maybe time to read what people have actually written?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I have actually read the replies, hence thanking the posters for them. The first stage was trying to contact the local sorting office which i have done, as a result of no response from them i have emailed the company i ordered the products from, which i am waiting for a reply from.
Once i receive a reply i will be able to determine what action to take based on the replies on this thread. If i was going to ignore the helpful replies here, why would i have bothered posting in the first place?0 -
Did you ring the main RM customer services phone number? Practically every option gives you a person to speak to.
Recorded/SignedFor is normal postal delivery with just a signature to prove delivery. If your item is 15 working days or more late then you need to contact the sender and ask them to make a claim for the lost package and to refund you the cost.0 -
Today, once again, some valuable tickets were just pushed through my door, despite being recorded delivery.0

They wouldn't have been covered against loss BTW, tickets need to be sent special delivery (next day guaranteed) . Standard mail which includes recorded only covers up to £39 anyway even if they weren't tickets.
However a complaint to the Royal mail is in order, I get annoyed when people pay for recorded and it is not used and they will usually send you a book of stamps in compensation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
