Vodafone seem to have me over a barrel!!
My 12 month contract runs out late next month, currenly I am on an online tariff for £15 a month which gives me 100 cross minutes at any time and 50 free texts. I am wanting to change my mobile but was wanting to stay with Vodaphone as I have seen a new offer for £18 month with again 100 cross minutes and 100 texts.
Turns out these offers are for new customers only and even though they would get the phone I was after free of charge I would have to pay £192 for it and would stay on my current tariff!!!
To make matters worse I need to give them 30 days written notice that I want to cancel and then I would have to wait at least 3 months before I could return to them to take up their offer that I am currently trying to get.
Now thinking of trying to change networks and have looked at e2save but while they have what look like some decent offers with cashback after 6/12 months etc it would mean my monthly tariff would almost have to double to £25-30 a month.
Not looking good, any advice from you experts?

Sounds like they do have you over a barrel. I personally think its out of order for Vodafone to commit customers to an 18 month contract and not allow existing customers to move to there better offers which are only for new customers. I was once with Vodafone and found there customer service terrible. I left and went to Orange. Have you looked at Orange's offers. I 'm sure they have an offer of 120 x network mins and 30 texts per month for £15.00 per month, and only a 12 month minimum contract.
If you are still wanting to stay with Vodafone ask them to price match the Stirling Vodafone Store as there doing an offer at the moment where by you are getting a Nokia 6230 or GX 25 with 200 X Network mins for £15 per month. The offer is in there window.
Hope this helps0 -
Thanks for the reply, I am only on a 12 month contract but my main aim is to really change my phone as it is getting a bit worn.
Noticed BT mobile have an offer for 100 cross mins + 50 texts which BOTH can roll over for 1 month. It is £9.99 a month for the 1st 6 months then £25.00 a month for the last 6 months, over the year this works out at £210 = £17.50....not bad. Best thing is that the credit/offer is added to your account from the start so no trying to claim back after 6/12 months etc.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

There are numerous offers available. Look at the BT option with Carphone Warehouse, ie the same one as you mentioned above would cost you only £78 for the year. See link:

Or, try this link to Oranges site which gives you 120 mins + 50 texts per month for £15 and get Samsung or Nokia phone free. Remeber that Orange does not charge for calls made to 0800 (freephone) numbers. That means you can sign up to 18866.com and make calls on your mobile through them once your free minutes are used up.

From your description I am on the same tariff as you and mine ends in April. Unlike some I quite like the current phone I have and will just ask them to end the agreement and have the phone as P&G.
I always find I never use all of the free minutes and texts each month and texting Australia is charged for anyway.
I think I'm one of quite a few who is in a contract they wish they'd never signed.0 -
Check out the deals at http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/. They will port your number to orange and give you the same tariff with the line rental returned to you in the form of cashback after 4, 8 , and 12 months.
Beware thought that from the day you buy the phone, Orange start charging (though it is rebated)

Gazzadfc myself and loads of mates have always cancelled Vodafone contracts and then started a new one up straight away or within a week for a new phone.
They have never seemed to query returning within 3 months.
Maybe use Dialaphone or someone like that, i've used them for years of new contracts.

Every year I give Vodaphone one months notice, telling them that I do not need a contract phone now and am going on PAYG with the cheapest company. They always ring back with a better deal than the one I was on.

Thanks for all that, will be sending a letter on Tuesday giving them 30 days notice to cancel.
Just another thought, has anyone took out a higher priced monthly contract so to get a better phone, then after the 1st month changed to the cheaper tariff but keeping the better phone?Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Hi I am with vodaphone . the trick is dont deal with the shops only deal with vodaphone direct as they have more power ,I pay £40 per pcm for 1000 anytime minutes and get a new phone and my special deal every year. But beware they will try the 18 month contract if you are weak.My only real complaint is that they only print the 08 number for the call center on the front of the bills not the free one on the back in the small print. Good hunting0

I forgot to say that that its 1000 minutes anytime also any network including land lines but not 0870 0845 ect they still rob you blind for those including calling Vodaphone so make sure you call the free one on the back of the bill thas in the small print0
