Shower Enclosures

We're having a new shower room fitted & are looking around for a shower enclosure.

No salesman seems to be able to explain the differences in quality or justify the differences in price.

I'm definitely not looking for the cheapest of the cheap, but would rather pay for (& get) a good quality long lasting unit thats not going to leak, & the doors not going to stick. Looking to spend up to approx £700 max for a 800mm quadrant.

I like the look of the Coram, but an Aqualux from Screwfix is a lot cheaper!

Can anyone advise what I should be looking for? & any names or makes they would receommend or avoid.

Thanks in advance.

Manhattan showers are one of the best, Flair internation are also pretty good

As your in edinburgh i can also supply these at cost price if you see anything you like

Aqualux are a mid-range fitting and there is better out there for the money

The cheaper unit use 4mm glass where the better items use 8mm

Have a look at them before you buy. Manhattan are good, and you usually get what you pay for.
Cheap ones are poorly packed, and travel badly. I've had bottom end "contract" ones where the paint was bubbling, or they arrived scratched, or dented, and had to send numerous back. Go to a plumbers merchant, and negotiate a discount. You probably could buy cheaper online, but you can't see them first.

Roman shower are also very high quality as are Lakes

The twyford Geo6 enclosure is a well priced at around 160+vat for trade and represents value for money

Last month i was buying mira flight quadrant trays in either 800 or 900mm and a flair international enclosure, which i must confess to be one the simplest to fit for £199+vat!!

Manhattan, If your not getting 30-35% off your not getting a good deal!

Majestic are about as good as it gets, they are made from components produced for commercial glazing installations by companies such as Preedy Glass

Daryl are almost on a par in my view and come with lengthy gaurantees.

    Aqata rank with Daryl.

Then there are a whole range of manufacturers such as Roman, Manhattan that fall in just under these.

I've always rated Daryl, I like the simplicity of construction and design.

Do be aware that any of the minimalist designs often have very little adjustment so the construction has to be spot on.

I used to make my own designs using Preedy glass and their offshoot company Prefit fittings. This provided me with the same spec as Majestic enclosures but often at half the price.

I was literally about to post the same question!

We are looking for an enclosure 900mmx900mm but not a tray. Something like this: http://www.spiralshowers.co.uk/frameless-shower-enclosures/sh-ent-007_two-sided-enclosure-with-hang-panel.html

Needs to be frameless with one fixed panel and another which either hinges at the wall (not really ideal) or hinges 1/3 way across the door.

Just going to look at all links posted above.

Have you thought of a walk in shower? I've just plumbed one in my garage (I know!!) for when I get back from biking - its great I even throw the bike in at the same time!!! all you need to do is buy a sheet of glass and bit of pipe work, some PVC wall panels and you're away.

Love it that much I'm going to put one in the house this time :)
