question regading damaged carpet

Have a read of the "Avoiding Betterment & Considering Apportionment" section of this ARLA info sheet - you may find it useful when trying to calculate a fair contribution to the cost of replacing the carpet whilst taking into account its current age and condition. If the carpet wasn't new when you moved in then they shouldn't charge you the full cost of a new one as that would be betterment.0

Ok well, you know for next time! And it's not much you know, a few quid a month. Anyhoo, it's looking to me like you will have to pay for a new carpet unless there is any way you can remove the plastic bits left on it. Have you tried asking on the old style board if anyone has any ideas on what to do? What makes you say it doesn't need a new carpet? Is it carpet tiles?Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

my £300 deposit/bond is with the company managing the property we live with, 2let2.
anyway thanks for that will mention that if he has insurance it should cover it, especially as our frontdoor got kicked in about 6months ago, and needed a new door/lock etc and im assuming his insurance paid for that not the letting agents.
Well thats crock for a start, as your tenancy started after April 07 (Im presuming the tenancy is for this academic year?) then it should be lodged in one of the schemes and you should have been informed of which within 14 days
Be prepared to take it to the small claims court if necessary0 -
This is interesting - taken from 2let2s website:

If 2let2 are the managing agents 2let2 will hold the bond deposit as a stake holder in a secure client account until the termination of the tenancy. If the property is not managed by 2let2 then the landlord will hold the bond.
2let2 are proud members of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme awarded admission into the scheme in early 2007.The Tenancy Deposit Scheme has been established under the Housing Act 2004. It requires landlords to register details of the start and end of all Assured Shorthold Tenancies on which they take a deposit.
Im sure one of the posters more in the know about deposits than me will be along in a bit to explain but that first sentence sounds severly dodgy to me and the first in the TDS bit doesnt make much sense0
