Air China - Do you recommend?

Hiya,

For those who have flown with Air China what are your views? Any good for long haul or should I skip?

Regards

I am booked to fly with them in August so i hope they are ok!

But they seem to get good reviews and are part of the Star Alliance.

The way to look at it is like this - If an airline is flying into or over Europe or USA then they have to adhere to the same safety standards as airlines such as Virgin, BA etc...

They were distinctly average, got us to Beijing (at the 2nd attempt as had to return to Heathrow as undercarriage failed to retract, but they dealt with it well) and got us back. No seat back TV's. OK food. OK staff. OK is a good descriptive word for Air China.

hmm no tv's in seats? that's a major down point for me. but the flight *is* cheap so I guess i have to consider the pro's and cons.

    Thanks for the info

I went years ago through Page and Moy, it was brilliant with BA. August will be very hot and dusty there
  • Hello - I flew with them a couple of years back as they were mega cheap. Flew to beijing as part of a 2 week stopover and then on to japan. If your priority is to get a cheap flight then they are ok. However, as alluded to in previous post there were no seat tv's and the food in my opinion was dreadful. I would probably fly with them again if they were still mega cheap but would take my own food and an ipod!

Air China are actually (based of past statistics) a pretty safe airline - similar to other major national carriers such as Singapore, BA, Air NZ. Avoid other Chinese airlines like the plague though - they have a terrible record for air safety.

Personally, I would fly as it will take forever to skip to China.
