seller sent item to wrong address

can you advise me what sort of feedback to leave ... basically item sent was correct but seller wrote envelope and missed a digit off my house number...item went to another house in the street and they have not appologised or acknowledged their mistake. Am I being harsh wanting to leave negative feedback...or should it be neutral?

Personally I think a neg is a little over the top for what is probably an honest mistake. If you are happy with the purchase I would still go Positive but mark down on communication in the DSRs

I wouldn't bother. If you are happy with your purchase and have still received it then a positive feedback should be left. It was probably an honest mistake and everyone does make mistakes. xx

Have you told them they made a mistake?

I did eventually get the item..it was sent recorded delivery..when I didn't receive it I contacted seller for tracking code which they happily provided. The address the item went to was unoccupied so postman left a card and this was displayed on tracking info.I contacted royal mail and they offered to re deliver item again ... but as it was addressed to a valid house re delivery was again attempted to the wriong address. I am sure the seller was aware of their mistake as they would have had a receipt from the post office when posted but they have chosen to ignore my emails.
I eventually got the item from the post office but had great difficulty in proving that the item was mine as I could not provide proof of my address at the incorrectly addressed address!....apparently post must be delivered to the address stated on the envelope!

I would leave a neutral, definitely not a positive.

As you have the item and are happy with it (I presume) - I would still leave a positive but mark them down on the dsr - I know you say that they must have realised as they had the receipt from the post office, but to be honest, the receipt goes from the cashier to my back pocket when I post something, then into an envelope at home - it only ever gets looked at again if there was a problem otherwise it gets binned after 6 months, so to be fair, don't assume just because they had a reciept they must have realised they had made a mistake.

If they ignored your emails (hopefully via ebay and not just to their personal address where it might have been seen as spam) the at least a neutral is justified.

The seller stopped communicating with me after they had provided the tracking number...there was no response to my emails asking them to confirm the address they had sent the item to...I guess the seller would have checked the receipt at that point and realised the error....I appreciate errors happen but they haven't even said sorry...

If you leave a neg or a neutral, at least they will be forced to face they made an error (accidental or not) and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Leaving a positive just reinforces their behaviour.
