UNBRANDING Mobile Phone

Options
I bought a Motorola U9 phone from Vodafone nearly a year ago and have had many problems with it which the local V.F. shop have been very unhelpful with so I decided to get free of Vodafone. I got it unlocked and put in a Virgin sim card but although I am PAYG with Virgin the phone still opens and closes with the Vodofone logo and I cannot get on line or download anything because the V.F is still "in charge" of the process and they will not recognise the sim or allow Virgin to be recognised!
I believe the answer (apart from getting another phone which I don't want to do) is to get it UNBRANDED. Can anyone help or advise me about this?

I had a similar problem when I got my old Tesco Sony Ericsson unlocked. It still had the link to all their internet services on the main menu, and I wanted T-mobiles. They apparently couldn't help me and said there was no way to change it. What have Vodafone said (and also, did you get it unlocked by them? They may be less inclined to help if you have gone elsewhere to unlock the phone)
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Just go to an independent phone shop and they will tell you how much to debrand it.
Unlocking the phone should enable you to use another SIM in it, the branding is purely a cosmetic effect. If that is the case, take it back to the unlocker and get them to sort it out for you.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
