Unable to unlock mobile phone - HELP!!!!

I currently have a contract phone (O2, Nokia) - I'm happy with the contract having checked the Which? link.

My daughter has an LG (T Mobile) PAYG phone and has just bought a new PAYG phone Sagem (Vodafone). I thought I would use her old one and followed the guidelines in the MSE guide to unlocking a mobile phone (ie, link to website) I put the details in, but had the following problems:-

1) The IMEI code on the inside of the phone was 15 x digits (which is what the website requested), but was 17 x digits when I put the code (*#, etc) into the phone (the last 2 x digits were 00). I didn't even get as far as the question re which network!

2) I tried this 3 x times, but gave up (I still have the unblock code)

3) Is what I'm trying to do possible (ie, can I use an O2 SIM card in place of the T Mobile SIM card)?

4) I put my daughter's T Mobile SIM back in her LG phone (while her new phone charges and so she can use the credit up), but it says that she's only got 2 x attempts left - should she be putting the unblock code in?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

you cannot unlock the lg like this (the codes are for nokias only)
you need to get it direct unlocked -try market stall (about £10)
the nokia on o2 contract you have will prob be unlocked already
  • Thanks very much - saves me wasting more time. I'll nip to the market tomorrow. (The site I went onto asked me to select from a drop-down menu which included LG, which is why I thought it was possible).
