Probably depends on how much s/he's made on his expenses!
  • Hahaha....I saw on the BBC that mine had made quite a bit!
Emailed him for help hoping to find some additional funding for me, but he didn't respond. MPs, hey?!

I hope you get good news from yours, I'm sure your daughter will be thankful for years to come! What an experience.

While I do wish your daughter all the best your funding strategy does worry me. You have spoken about fund-raising and sponsorship, and I suspect that despite the strategy being saturated with gap year students and graduate's heading off to find themselves in Africa, you may be successful in raising a amount towards her fee's. However I do wonder what will happen when you come back cap in hand for the second and third year. I can imagine that people will be less sympathetic feeling that they have given once. I just hope you can keep up the funding so that your daughter can enjoy the full course.

  • hi to all just to update well we had lots of coverage in our local papers, local bbc and local radio!!! My M.P has also been great . And the best thing of all was that my daughter has been awarded a scholarship(DaDa) for the next 3 yrs so majority of her fees will now be paid. Thanks to all with previous advice. Her dream looks to be coming true!!! I'm one happy Mum :)
  • That is good news glad it worked out for you.

  • Hi
We're in exactly the same position, my daughter is just about to start her second year at Performers & as it stands at the moment because we're unable to find a sponsor she may not be able to continue.
To answer one question for you, you are able to get a CDL, Barclays are the best ones to try, the only thing is they used to pay the maximum of £10,000 in one payment, solving the fee's issue almost for at least a year, that has now changed & depending on how long the course is (in our case 3 years) the loan is spread out & goes into the 2nd academic year. As a result you will end up paying the full fee amount every other term & topping up the one the payment covers by approx £1,200.
It's very frustrating as our daughter to wants nothing more than to perform but without the sponsorship thsi will not happen. I agree that regardless of the course they should be able to get all the student finance available it's not fair.
  • i am in the same position i know the last post was 2yrs ago but the details are all the same . i am interested to know did your daughter get awarded the DADA after all the press /MP involvement as they usually have to re audition for the DADA s in May ? anyway i would be grateful of any advice as i am now in the same position with my daughter she has been offered a place at Cambridge Performing Arts on the same Diploma course at great expense but obviously talented enough to be selected from over a thousand applicants for only 40 places , we now just have to figure out how to pay the £11,000 a yr fees for 3 yrs ? any advice ?
