Binge Drinking

Whilst I agree with the general premise of the legislation, I understand that an £80 fine is for Urinating and being sick in the street etc. This will be very unfair in our local town ,Battle, as Rother council is to close ALL the public toilets, permanently, as a cost saving measure-even the ones at the local coach park. Strangely enough they are not closing any in the town where the Council has its offices.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Have a wee before you leave the pub!!
Can't understand - I have never felt the need to wee in the street??You never know how far you can fly, till you spread your wings.0 -
Girls have to be more discreet if caught short....don't see why boys can't disappear somewhere private for a pee too! ;D*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
If I don't reply to you, I haven't looked back at the thread.....PM me0 -

The Europeans must laugh at us.
What other country sets up mobile hospitals in towns because of binge drinking.
Youngsters these days should get a grip and think there is more to life than getting p****ed.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Isn't there a saying (insult) in other European countries -
"holds his drink like an Englishman"

nothing to do with drinking - are the public toilets to be closed permanently or just at night? what about parents with young kids who don't get much warning of when they need the toilet? i know when mine was small if he said he needed the toilet while we were shopping i had to find one quickly!! will kids be fined for urinating in the streets too?52% tight0

I doubt very much that a child would ever be fined for weeing in the street - these type of laws are aimed at anti-social behaviour by supposed adults.
How would a young mum feel about walking past a grown man urinating in the street!!
I agree totally with the person above regarding the issue over these mobile hospitals - it is an utter disgrace that it has come to this. Statistics say that 50% of A & E 'emergencies' are drink related and after midnight it goes up to 70%, it has just gone too far and something NEEDS to be done about it.You never know how far you can fly, till you spread your wings.0 -
yes, i feel very sorry for the hospital staff having to deal with it all.
there are notices up in our town centre about antisocial behaviour along certain streets between certain times and what powers the police have to deal with under 16's. they can be imprisoned and fined! mind you that's only between 9pm and 6am so i doubt there will be many toddlers out at that time needing the toilet :-)52% tight0 -
They closed all our public loos in Shepway too - they were closed all the time, not just at night.
After much public pressure (!) they had to reopen them!
I dont know why the government is making such a big deal about binge drinking - I'm 31 now and we all used to go out when I was 17/18 and binge drink, never caused a problem then so what's changed?
On our local news they did a feature about it and they said that two glasses of wine constitutes binge drinking - how!?!?0
