You can get mini statements from other bank's machines too I believe.0

In branch Natwest cannot access RBS accounts and Visa Versa but you can use either to cash a cheque if you have a gurantee card with you and you can pay in at the other if you have a paying in slip. Is there a particular reason or question you need answering?0

Just wondered if when RBS merged with NATWEST if they merged the systems into one, or if they still traded as separate businesses, as their accounts seem very similar and the cash machines seem to do the exact same functions the only difference is one has RBS and the other NATWEST on them, in fact I thought the NATWEST machines were always called SERVICETILLS ?.0 -
They are classed as seperate banks and operate independently but you are right most of the products are very similar.0

And I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of their systems are shared.0

I believe they all use the streamline system, and Streamline are owned by RBS. I could be wrong though..0

The systems used in branches are virtually identical.0

Still classed as 2 sep banks however the system the bank staff use are very similar.0

RBS and NatWest although part of the same banking group still operate under seperate licences, RBS bank is registered in Edinburgh and NatWest in London. I was told by an RBS employee that although they are part of the same group it is no easier for an RBS customer to transfer cash to a NatWest account as it would be to a Barclays, HSBC or any other bank.
Some banks who have merged eg. Halifax and Bank of Scotland are almost totally integrated now and you can log-in to your Halifax account through the BOS website and vice versa - Halifax no longer operates under a seperate licence and is no longer registered as its own bank in West Yorkshire but is now a division of Bank of Scotland and operates under its licence which is registered at the Mound in Edinburgh. Of course now they are part of the Lloyds Banking Group so it will all change again...0 -
