We recently received a bill from London Energy for our gas, saying that they had the wrong meter information and had recalculated our bill and we owe them an extra £155 for the period 15/5/05 - 28/4/06. Is this possible/legal? Has anyone else had this happen? Do I have to pay it?
    Thanks in advance, Dante

Another price rise letter recieved today. Be aware it's for the Midlands area and we signed up on the first tariff version, so might not affect customers in different areas or newer tariff versions. For example, we weren't affected by the online price rise a couple of months ago, but some were.

    2nd October 2006 price rise:

    Gas: 3.629p (+20%), 2.283p (+19.97%) above 1465kWh per quarter
    Elec: 11.05p (+19.98%), 7.46p (+19.94%) above 225kWh per quarter

So basically gas and electricity have gone up by 20%. Will have to check if EDF online is still cheapest tariff for us.

1st Feb 2008 price rise (for Midlands online v1 tariff):

    Gas: 4.035p (+11.12%), 2.537p (+11.13%) above 1465kWh per quarter
    Elec: 13.71p (+24.07%), 8.69p (+16.49%) above 225kWh per quarter

So electricity has gone up the most. Strangely, the online tariff I cannot remember there ever being a price drop.

    Just to update

1st Feb 2008 price rise (for Scottish Power area online v4 tariff):

    Gas: 4.035p (+25.58%), 2.537p (+18.88%) above 1465kWh per quarter
    Elec: 13.06p (+34.17%), 8.49p (+14.69%) above 225kWh per quarter

It seems the gas is the same as for the midlands tariff and the electricty a little cheaper - still a huge hike though.
