REMO-Reciprocal Enforcement of Maintenance Order

I was told not to call directly by REMO but I ignored them and called and sent docs directly to the state. The courts here are just too slow otherwise. I would find the clerk who deals with "incoming UIFSA" in the local court and (they can find your case by his SS no) and fax them directly the letter you sent in Feb. They should be using the Federal Parent locator service too which should track him down through his employment. Make friends with the clerk and phone every 10 days for updates.
I had my registration hearing this week and it went well. It was in front of a hearing officer and they provided a lawyer from child services who "represented London" . They ruled to register the order but he is still appealing the registration and it will be in front of a judge in about a month's time. Supposedly the order will be enforced in the interim....so will be on the phone to their probation department to check all the details etc. I now have contacts all throughout the the system and am looking to manage the whole process myself rather than rely on the snail pace of REMO. I don't think the problem is actually at the REMO office but at the UK local court level.0 -
ok so liverpool told me to go ahead and phone florida but to keep him in the loop.
so i called the customer services number on the forms for the Florida Child support offices. The first lady i spoke to had NO clue, so put me through to customer services who were able to locate my case by case number. She confirmed they had sent a notification of support to the original address i provided on the papers, and they had no record of the updated address i provided via liverpool
She allowed me to update this over the phone, but oddly said they didnt have the facility on their system to note his SSN.I now have a fax number to do this. FAO establishments
I know there is phone number for the county child support offices on the web site so i can call them and she also said to call the customer services i called today for any update in status..
How would i find out what court are going to be dealing with this?? Do i need to wait until he has had the notice of support sent to him?? I will be faxing the number i was given for the team today confirming his address and also letting them know his SSN.
He conveniently hasnt been gainfully employed for about 5 months now, not sure if he is getting unemployment or not. I am hoping they 'inpute' his earnings to do the order.
How did they do the hearing?? Did they phone you at home and conference it?? Was your NRP there??? I want to be doing everything i can to make this man pay his portion of support.... the sooner the better0 -
Ask the court in Florida if they have an online system - I know I can check on my file online - I can see what enforcement action has been taken, date actioned, account balance, payments made, when mailed to me etc. It also handles email communication so that there is a record of all communications, and if I have a question, I get a response within 24 hours.0

AnxiousMum....re online services, I have found that whilst I exist in the system, whilst my order is not registered yet or still in process there is little I can do online. It really looks like Kimi is at the beginning of the journey and she has to get an order established rather than just the more straight forward process of getting one registered.
Re my hearing. It went fine. They dialed me in (took them a little while as they had to get special permission to make an international call - This is very typical for the US - virtually no one has the ability to make international calls). The NRP was present.....he brought his latest girlfriend along?! There was a lawyer from child services who had all my documents and she presented my case. The hearing officer recommended registering the order but he is appealing (of course) and I should have another hearing in a month but this time in front of a judge. I now have the name and no of the lawyer who represented me from child services and she or another member of her team will be present at the next hearing. Spoke to her again today. Got her email. She was super helpful with how the whole system works and gave me contacts in enforcement etc. So feeling very happy. Still got a little way to go but the light is at the end of the tunnel!0 -
Is there anyway of finding out someone's SSN? - ex was on a H1B visa when we split up so don't think he got one until he got his green card, I've done a search on his zipcode so I know which office in Houston will be dealing with my claim0

I don't think you can to be honest...that would be the equivalent of us being able to search for National insurance numbers for others...must a data protection issue??
Have you googled?0 -
Tried google, didn't want to pay peoplesearch if it doesn't come up. Did find out where and when he remarried and her name - not the one she was going by on Facebook before she married him - hubby says I've turned into a stalker but he does like the evaders page on the texas child support site and keeps checking to see if they've added him :rotfl:0

Thank goodness to have found some other people going through the REMO experience at last!
I've been dealing with REMO off and on for a number of years and it seems to me that the whole process needs to be made a lot easier, quicker, user friendly and more supportive. I bet loads of people just give up!
I'm thinking of writing to the DWP who are consulting on a Green Paper (comments in by 7th April 2011) in order to try to get this whole area looked at, as there must be an ever increasing number of people caught up in reciprocal enforcement. What do you think?
Plus a support group for advice and support for those going through the process would be great. Something like you guys have started doing on here!0 -
I really must get the rest of my forms filled in and sent this week, with work and the kids I never seem to get the time.
one question though, the petition for support, needs to be signed under oath , do i just fill in the form and send it with the rest of the paper work and then wait for an appointment to sign it under oath or do i take it in person and sign it there and then?0 -

I took my affidavit to to the local magistrates' court and swore it at the public counter, they didn't charge me anything, then I went and had it copied before going back to submit it and pay the £40 REMO fee.0
