A topping for a cheese cake?0

When I went to the outlet shopping centre before Christmas I bought an amazing jam made of blackcurrants and brandy, perhaps those were the fruits that had been used for liqueur and had been turned into jam. You could try! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

We like individual yorkshire puddings filled with stewed blackcurrants served with cream.0

any ideas for damsons which have been soaked for a year in rum?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

For the last couple of years, I have made Sloe (gin) Jelly out of the sloes left over from home made Sloe Gin by adapting a recipe I found by googling. Both times it has turned out very nice even though I am no jam-making expert. I am sure damsons could be turned into a jar or two of jam. No pips in damsons either.
I've got some blackcurrants in Vodka at the moment, so I will probably have to come up with an idea for those soon enough.0 -
Thanks FLA - what adaptioons did you have to make?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Hi Ladyhawk
I can't find the actual recipe at the moment but I remember it asking for proper bramley apples - I used the slightly wrinkly ones in the fruit bowl. I didn't use the correct amount of sugar either - not enough in the cupboard. I also gave into temptation and squeezed the jelly bag despite the warnings not too!
Pretty much, I made it up as I went along. Turned out OK though.0 -
aah ok... so no cunning changes that I'd "have" to make.
Thanks for your help.
I'll give the jam ago in the morning when it is slightly cooler.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
