Hose Pipe and Swimming Pool?

Dear Folks

I have a swimming pool and I telephoned South East Water to see if I could use a hose pipe to maintain my pool. They advised me that I could not use a hose to clean or top-up my pool (I am on a meter).

I asked that if I had an automated pool-top-up system (like ballcock) would this be OK? They confirmed yes!

In essence they advised me that "if you do not use a "hose" you are OK".

So using a hose to wash you car is a "no no" but taking it to a car wash, that uses far more water is acceptable.

CONCLUSION: I need to buy some piping to install a tap direct into my pool, this weekend!

BTW, we have a swimming pool to assit with repair to a back injury and my wife's kidney stone condition, as daily swimming mobilises the stones and fluid in the body - we did not win the pools!!
