Kicked off A4e and then wrestled out of job center.

Surely if there were no unemployed people, all the job centre staff would be, er,.....unemployed.:rolleyes:0

I will in part agree with DMG here but also recognise that events leading up to your lapse in behaviour were a partial cause. Nonetheless I am afraid it is no excuse for disruptive behaviour that served to benefit noone, especially yourself. How you were treated by not receiving phone calls back was wrong, how you were treated by being forced to go in was not ideal but perhaps necessary. How you were spoken to by the security staff was perhaps a little gruff but doesn't seem to have warranted your response. The same goes sadly for your response when asked to leave. It strikes me it was you having the bad day and your curt attitude was not well received. Sadly jobcentreplus staff are extremely stretched at the moment and should not have to go to work each day to be abused.
You might also like to bear in mind that many, many of us working folk actually go to work with bad colds and flu and soldier on. Perhaps looking on yourself as a jobseeker and less of an unemployed person might give you a greater degree of purpose?
And you shouldn't.
I can well understand the frustration of the OP (taking his story on face value, i have no reason to assume it's all a wind up) if he has no money left to even get home. The JC behaved with reprehensible irresponsibility that's all too common these days.
This silly attitude people have of stoicness is really just stupidity. It isn't heroic or rewarding to turn up for work sick. All you do is make other people (including peopel who might be severely affected) ill. This ide of 'soldiering on' really bugs me and is used by people like this poster as a way to bully others: if you don't 'soldier on' or 'man up' you are thus lazy. It's disgusting. I also note the snide attitude toward the unemployed here. Perhaps this poster could explain what is meant by his last sentence; who says he has no purpose? What a sad world we live in where people are intrinsically thought of as worthless unless they are someone's wage slave.0 -

Those courses are a joke and should be scrapped. The incompetence between the jobcentre and the training provider is scandalous. They do nothing to help people back into work and its bullying by saying attend or get no benefits.
Absolute rubbish.:footie:0 -
The worst thing for prospective employers is long, unexplained gaps in a persons career history. So better these courses than nothing. It's not like you've got anything to do with your time anyway apart from moan on online forums about how hard done by you are.0

your just ranting and having a dig, your comments are not part of an informed discussion about goverment training courses based on fact and comments from people who have been on them or work for the provider.
There is actually nothing that a training course does that you cant source yourself anyway. It often looks better too as these courses often carry a stigma. The courses are also a way to massage the unemployment figures for the country.:footie:0 -
I do have some sympathy with the OP as I've had spells on JSA in the past and it's true-if you stand out or speak up they don't like it one bit.
BUT these courses are designed to make you think-'sod this you can't tell me what to do' and sign off. Pure and simple. The idea that they are to help you is a sham and all involved know it. The really detemined workshy will put up with it but the DWP know there are a large percentage of people on JSA who don't really have to be and these courses are to weed out the hangers on. I know someone who is long term unemployed for no good reason frankly, who is doing a course at the mo-he is hopping mad that it's distracting him from his hobby! These are the people the courses are for, I don't believe they have any constructive basis. I am seriously looking for work at the moment myself (employed) and probably spend about an 1-2 hours a week looking-I don't see how anyone can spend 7 hours a day five days a week looking for work, it's just not possible."I always pass on good advice. It is the only thing to do with it. It is never of any use to oneself" -Oscar Wilde0 -
They simply seem like punishment centres for the unemployed. I think they are making changes arent they! Perhaps they are realising they dont work.:footie:0

I am not sure where you stand legally on this one, especially in scotland, but overall if they were deemed to be using in excess of 'reasonable force' based on an assessment of your 'intent' and 'potential', they could be on dodgy ground.
I do sympathise, as a graduate years ago I signed-on very briefly and was ordered to go to a local centre for support in writing a CV and doing job applications - in reality, this meant sitting in a hot, overcrowded room, with all the old boys and rough sleepers who relaxed there between drinking in the marketplace.
It quickly became apparent that I had better CV writing skills than the NVQ qualified staff, and when I was told off for sealing a completed job application it was the final straw. (you were supposed to leave them open so they could check you were not 'abusing' their free postage stamps!) I wrote a stiff letter to the job centre, and the local MP I believe, and was 'excused' from having to go back!
Good luck with the job hunting!0 -
