Autoreisen are mentioned quite afew times in Lanzarote forum on Tripadviser. Feedback generally seems Ok so sure you would be ok with them, only problem was can be a bit slow picking up at airport.
I am going on Sunday and decided to book with cabrera medina instead. Cost a little more but hopefully less queues. Haven't been for Lanzarote for years but remember seeing Cabrera cars there last time and apparently they are based in Canaries and have been going since 60's so that have me a good reassurance.
Hope you have a good holiday, can't wait for some sunshine!:beer:0 -
Used Auto Reisen last two times in Lanzarote. Prices well below anyone else. Cars have been fine and collection / return at the airport no problem. Have booked again for July.
Just remember to check the condition of the car on collection and get the agent to note on the booking form any damage to the car. Our last car had been scratched badly on both sides - probably by some vandal.
Other hire company we have used in Lanzarote is Cabrera Medina who do a good deal on the Vauxhall Astra. Very good company but certainly more expensive.
Have a good holiday and leave me some sunshine for July!0 -

Quick question about Autoreisen. Is the CDW included in the price, the site seems a little vague. Only reason I ask is the fact that when I went to Menorca earlier in the year, I had my hire car written off overnight by a hit and run. Due to having "super" collision damage waiver, I just got a new car and didn't have to pay a penny.
The "super"CDW (no excess) from Hertz and James' villas (our operators) is an extra 14 euros per day. This is more than the entire price quoted by autoresen, hence the question.0 -
I've also posted this on a Lanzarte car rental thread, but thought I'd post it on this specific one too.......
Just got back after using AutoReisen in Lanzarote. Citroen C3 for 7 days was 100 euros. That included all insurance, even the no excess collision damage waiver. Car had done 20,000 miles and was in excellent condition. The handover back at the airport was hassle free, an Autoreisen rep came up as we were parking it an checked his documents and we gave him the keys.
A lot of other companies are now asking you to pay up front for a full tank of fuel, Autoreisen don't. They ask you to fetch it back with the same amount as was in the car when you collected it. I collected it with 2 bars full, and gave it back with 3. Maybe 5euros too much, but better than the 55 euros one company was charging for a full tank!!
Incidentally, for the same car through James villas and Hertz car rental it was going to be £159 and then 14 euros a day for the no excess CDW.
I'm glad I read this forum or I'd never have heard of Autoreisen0 -
Reserved a car with Autoreisen months before our holiday- €130 for 10 days. Then easyJet cancelled our flight beacuse of snow so we couldn't pick the car up on the day agreed, we told Autoreisen that very morning and even said we would pay for the 2 days we didn't use and claim on our travel insurance. But they said they would not honour our booking 'for security reasons' and we would have to re-book. The price was now €280 for 8 days and we refused to be blackmailed by a company we already had a contract with. They refused to compromise, were completely dismissive on the phone and really didn't care. Do not book with this company beacuse if something goes wrong they will not help you at all and leave you to pay a premium rate at the airport! They are a false economy, dishonest and rude - you have been warned it is not worth the risk!!!
If you can afford to take a gamble then go for it, but if like us your holiday depends on havng a car and you do not have bottomless pockets its a big risk to take. We eventually paid £270 for 8 days with another company and will try giving the bill of £140 difference to Easyjet - good luck us!!!0 -
Based on the reviews we've read we're also hoping to use Auto Reisen to hire a car when we are in Lanzarote in November. Although i'm just a little confused - Does anyone have a link to the site?
Oops ok so i can't add links to my post to show you the sites i went to but basically i tried the obvious one which doesn't look right but having googled it, i found a link to arcarhire.com which looks like the correct site. i just wanted to confirm that i was looking at the right site and company.
thanks!0 -
Have used Autoreisen many times in all the Canaries as they have offices in the terminal and you can do the paperwork whilst waiting on the luggage.
Their rates include full insurance with no excess and glass cover so no hard sell for top up insurance as with some firms as they don't do any, includes an additional driver free of charge and you don't have to pay an inflated price for a tank of fuel but return it with what was there at the start.
You also pay nothing upfront so if prices drop for your booking then just cancel and rebook for no charge.
Had everything from nearly new 2,00km to older 90,000km cars but never had a problem with any of them. Usually they upgrade you and they even gave me a 9 seater minibus once when I'd booked a Clio!
One thing I've noticed the last twice is their prices had gone up so I used orcar.com when I rented in Tenerife for 11 days in May this year which is basically Autoreisen as you get the cars from the same desk, it was €132 with them as opposed to €159 going direct with Autoreisen.
Similar thing now with Fuerteventura for Nov only booked with Top Car Auto Reisen for €198 for 11 days as opposed to €258 direct with autoreisen for a B group car0
