"Distance selling regulations - cancellation periods
The regulations give consumers an unconditional right to cancel an order. This is to allow the consumer the opportunity to examine the goods or consider the nature of a service.
If a consumer cancels an order, written notice must be given to you by:
goods – seven working days from the day after that on which the goods are received by the consumer;
services – seven working days from the day after that on which the consumer agrees to go ahead with the contract.
If you fail to provide consumers with written confirmation of all the required information, then the cancellation periods can be extended up to a maximum of three months and seven working days. If the missing information is provided during this time, then the cancellation period ends seven working days beginning with the day after the full written confirmation is received by the consumer.
Where a contract is cancelled, the consumer must ensure that reasonable care is taken of any goods received and 'restore' them to you. This does not mean that they have to return them - unless you stipulate this in the contract - only that they make them available for you to collect.
You must refund the consumer's money as soon as possible and, at the latest, within 30 days of receiving the written notice of cancellation. The consumer may, at your discretion, be charged the direct cost of returning the goods, but you must tell them about this in the written information you give them.
If payment for the goods or services is under a related credit agreement, the consumer's cancellation notice also has the effect of cancelling the credit agreement.

Got mine from Microdirect yesterday and I must say I'm very impressed with it. Its very bright and crisp.
The colours are fantastic and cranking it up to the highest resolution you can see every detail. Far superior to the Sony Trinitron CRT I had before.
The specs on this model are excellent for the price of £133. Gladly no dead pixels, but I beleive if you do get one with a dead pixel very near the centre then that is cause for return.
BTW, I've used Micro Direct before too and they seem a good bunch of people. Always replied to my emails and also gave me good advice.
I've seen a few TFT's including ones we use at work and some Dell ones a few freinds have and pic quality of this is as good if not better.
All in all an excellent monitor for the price.0 -

Where did you find the Hp/Compaq 17"
It is on the Aria.co.uk site
It has a poor response time 45ms, so not good for games0 -
Hi typical
below is link to an aria 17" tft page - sorted by price (low)
There are 2 HP/Compaqs at £110 excl tax &P&P - I bought the FP7317 as it has speakers. I don't think the L1702 does.

I don't know much about which makes/models are best - but thought HP/Compaq should be OK.
Have checked the spec on the HP site - they give the response time as 25ms

Hi swattie,
thanks for the info. I would just like to add that I recently bought a Sony Vaio Laptop from Comet which had one dead pixel. Had a heck of a time trying to get them to exchange it. Therefor make or supplier not important really just got to cross your fingers and hope for a good one. I will go for the HP though as I only use my desktop for video editing not games so 25ms should be ok.0 -
a good note for people buying from the shops
once the sale is closed, force them to allow you to open and power it in the shop BEFORE YOU PAY, if they refuse, walk out and find another that will, comet sales people get about 0.05% comission, so that £1000 laptop sale will mean a fiver in that guys pocket, and the wages they are on will mean he wont give it up lightlymoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)
