O2: Best Texting Tariff

Hello,

I bought an iPhone today and would like to know: what is the best tariff for texting all UK mobiles, no matter what network? I don't call people a lot, but texting is a must - I want value. I normally top up £10/month.

You don't have much of a choice on O2 PAYG. Text Anytime is the only tariff they have for texters. The alternative is to look at O2 simplicity plans. £10 isn't going to get you very much by todays standards. The best is probably 3's £10 sim only deal with unlimited texts.

if you are on payg then textanytime is your best bet as you get 12,000 texts unfortunately it is £30 a month

This sounds interesting! I'm after the cheapest text ony deal. Network is not a problem.

Will any phone work with a 3 sim? I'd heard they could be iffy?

I'm sure I've seen an unlimited text or calls simplicity sim on the o2 shop for about £9-10 a month

As long as its a 3G phone and is unlocked, the 3 sim should work fine. Or pick a cheapo 3 PAYG phone. Or if you don't mind a 18mth contract, 3 are doing the Nokia E63 with 75mins+unlimited text+internet here for £15pm. £5 extra for internet and phone compared to their sim only deal.

ivinsp - You can get unlimited o2 to o2 calls for £15pm...nothing for the £10 simplicity.

Lowest you could get with o2 unlimited texts is £17.50 on a simplicity.. 150min, unlimited texts. For that though, you may aswell pay £20 per month and get 600min/unlimited texts.
