Jo, I second the suggestion of shopping online. It means you have time to stop and think about what you actually need to make meals, rather than being tempted to throw in lots of unnecessaries! There is usually a code for £5 off so so on the boards, so you end up with delivery for free.

Hi, bear with me for this as fairly new and a bit of a technophobe, but been reading through the thread to get some brilliant ideas as I thought I was reading about myself:rolleyes:. But could you clarify something (as a bit thick about things like this) on one of the links one of the ladies (sorry cant remember her name) put that she had say meat for Sunday roast and then had the leftovers on the Tuesday in another meal. So would you freeze the leftovers on the Sunday night or would it be ok in the fridge??? Many thanks.

    Hi ali

I said in my post we use meat from leftover roasts. We do this every week and I only ever put it wrapped up in the fridge. In fact on Monday we had leftover pork made into a pork n bean casserole which had been in the fridge from the previous Sunday as we'd been away. Heated through it was absolutely fine.

If you have to go to the shop for that evening's meal, only take cash. £10 will be more than enough and it will stop you overspending on things you don't need.

I've just done an online shop with Sainsburys (I usually use Tescos), and I was surprised at how cheap it was in comparison for the quality. With delivery it came to £60.21 (no codes unfortunately ). I'm going to see how long it lasts us.

Hello Jo, I am being good out of necessity, but I have been making some interesting meals, out of stuff in the cupboard, so not necessarily a bad thing. We get our milk delivered, so thats one thing less to buy. I am really surprised by how much I got for the money. Wish I was this good always. :A
