I got declined by Barclaycard Intital! Why?

Options
I applied for a card from barclaycard about 2 weeks ago online, it was declined there are and then so i left it, i expected because I failed scorng!

I then got a letter in the post on saturday saying that I got declined because of something on my credit file? !!!!!!?????????

I have no defaults, no CCJ's, no Bankrupcy's, no fraud markers, no gone away markers, no CIFAS entries, no NOR's, NOTHING!.....Apart from 3 missed payments (3 1's) from over six months ago, one of those is actually from over a year ago! I am also on the electoral role!

The only bad thing I do have is 5 credit searches in May!

So what else could they have declined me for? Because im confused

You think its worth appealing?

Have you checked all 3 CRA's and also the Fraud Agencies...? I'd consider this also appeal: Letter here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1612333

I have listed all the FPA's elsewhere but if you need them, let me know.

Surely if it was a fraud related problem it would be picked up on Experian in the CIFAS section wouldn't it?

If you start checking all the agencies it would cost you a bloody fortune, and you'd probably still no wiser.

NO - this is only cifas data that would show, not the other data that is held by the agencies I mentioned.

I have SAR'd them all and trust me, very useful to see what they say about you....

You are right though, it cost me £10 each and I SAR'd all 7 of them.... (includes CRA's)

    £70 on searches? Christ!

I honestly think you can get carry away with all these searches, like you have stated on some very helpful threads NID in the current climate lenders are more stict in they vetting process. I'd say it's the missed payments thats the problem Rose123

I'd be prone to agree but they only use last 6mth data and at most the last 12mth so could be/could be just their scoring methods.... something isn't right but I guess Aqua detect and score missed payments as a bad thing cos they are considered sub-prime and missed payments is bad to them....

Personally, i'd try another issuer and not spend the £40 just yet SARing the FPA's - could be a waste of money at this stage.....
