As you say he is entitled to statutory redundancy pay that must mean that he has been employed for more than two years. In that case he is entitled to more than one week's notice.

The statutory minimum notice period is one week for each completed year of service. The statutory minimum applies even if written particulars of employment suggest a lesser entitlement.

Ahh - he'll have been there just short of 4 so it'd be his SRP plus the notice? ie hes ben told he'll get one weeks pay ie to the end of his notice wheich he is working and ends Sunday - so his boss says he'll get his pay on Friday (for the last month with an extra weeks in which is his notice) and hopefully a cheque for redundancy which would be £1800 but thats not fixed or agreed on- basically he has to wait until Friday. Not good.

So he was due to receive three weeks' notice.

How close to 4 years would it be? Would he reach that landmark some time in June?

Have they been following any kind of proper procedure? Was Sunday the first official notification he received of a possible redundancy?

I think you need to work out the minimum amount of pay he is due in total - full notice (allowing for the one week he has been able to work to be included) and SRP and compare that with the actual amount they offer on Friday.

Total bolt from the blue - he was on shift and was told on Sunday he had a week to work and as above would be paid as normal and his 1 weeks notice with a mention of a possible redundancy of £1800 - from what I can work out his srp & notice (3weks) would come to just over £1200 so if the cheque doesn't arrive on friday as insinuated we'll take that tack, he certainly isn't being shoo'd off with 1 weeks wage and a pat on the back (am going through the stages now - done denial, now pee'd off - panic will set in tomorrow).

So definitely you've got them on procedure (or lack of) if it needs to go to an ET.

    Right an update:
Rang re JSA - we have to wait until Monday until he is actually unemployed and ring back, go throug a load of information on teh phone, they will send this completed info out to us to read/sign and send back and then we'll get an interview at the job centre re signing on etc.
Rang Tax credits - have to ring back Monday
Rang HB - they'll revise our HB and C Tax ben and we are to let them know asap what payout we get rom his work and when the jsa claim is active and they'll amend the claim accordingly.
CCCS were fantastic - they've suspended the dmp for this month and are writing to creditors (as am I), as soon as I know whats what with regards claiming and income I'm to ring back for a full review to see what we can do re dmp (desperately don't want to let it slide). They really were very helpful and sympathetic - in fact i was a bit tearful near the end which isn't like me lol!

The good news...... he has an interview on Friday morning! Its def not a done deal but an interview is an interview. Fingers crossed.
An ideal world - we get the redundancy £ on Friday and he gets the new job, we can cancel the new claims and pay off a few niggling bits and put the rest aside for safe.

Chances being.......! Lol. Won't hold our breaths -but its going to feel like a long wait until Friday when we find out what is what with everything!

Hi all - DH has an interview for 8.30am, he's fine, I feel like throwing up! He got his pay today which was his usual month he was due + one extra and thats all. Apparently he has to pop in to work tomorrow to pick up a cheque that the account will do so I'm worried he'll just get the £600. Looking back - he's been paid for his one weeks notice but should be entitled to a wks notice per year he has worked there? Thats 3 years, he'll have been paid one week and on top of SP should get his other two weeks paid?

Really worried this morning sorry - we were told on Sunday and it just really hit last night. He needs to know what to say to them when he goes in to get the cheque.

Hi - he's back and it didnt go wll unfortunately. Oh well, theres a tiny chance but its unlikely he'll gt the position he says. On with looking for other things now - there is nothing else on jobcentre plus at all which is worrying!!

Onward and upwards. Hope everything is sorted soon, hate this feeling. Composing a letter to our creditors no (on a dmp which the cccs have suspended until we know what we will have benefit-wise etc)
