You, me Crabman or Jamespond?
Go on I'm curious what you mean, if it is me you are insulting.

Good grief no Mikey! Sorry if you thought that! Please note that I thanked you on your thread when you challenged the 'able to access IP addresses' bit.

Crabman has already posted on here - but some people are too stupid to read clearly what he has written and that is why I have asked him to have a look - and probably have a laugh too.... its incredible really that they still carry on with these unfounded allegations against this site, which, incidentally, I have been reassured is very secure.

Sorry, no offense taken. It is possible to get the ip of a direct connection to a website, but you need access to the database, and need to run code to record all hits the website gets as it happens. The owners of the database would be able to do it, and anyone with the level of authority required could, but that's given by MSE IT staff. Not a mere poster like the rest of us. Having said that I'm still waiting for Jamespond to reply.

As Crabman said, even BG's (board guides for those who don't know - and Crabman is one of the motoring forum guides) doesn't have access to IP addresses - but apparently, one young 'newbie' has.... you have to laugh.. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

But it is a little wearing after awhile. This thread could've been fun if it weren't for a couple of folk, I love rally sport cars and love to hear about ones that are old and new...

I'm about but there's nothing more I can do as we don't deal with these issues - I've reported the issue to the forum team so they should be aware of it in due course. In this case as I'm 'involved' in the thread BGs are asked to pass it over to the forum team anyway so there is no accusation of 'bias'.

I'll say again in case anyone missed the last post - it is not possible to view the IP addresses of other posters unless you are a member of the MSE Team. Any further enquiries should be emailed to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com so that this thread can keep on-topic.

Evening all

Just to confirm to everyone on this thread, only the MSE Team (ie forum users whose usernames begin with MSE and are in green, or yellow in Martin's case) can see IP addresses.

Andrea :)
