FYI, never even read a post by Dan and I do in no way shape or form live in Essex so would never have been acquainted.
Me and OH were discussing this early, and the chavvy-ness is just the added extra you get with a "Hot Hatch", we concluded it is mainly Vauxhall's fault for when they started offering free insurance with the Saxo's. Like it or not, people driving these cars get that stereotype. He could be wearing a business suit for all I care and first thing in my head is chav.
Even the Evo suffered from it from the Evo 7 and 8 model they were chav-mobiles. Just because they're not cheap doesn't mean chavs don't drive them. Standard Evo 8 was £26,995, and my goodness did the chavs get hold of them, in fact, I went off the whole models because of this. Thankfully the 10 appeals to a better class of clientell.
I have seen a Focus Cab I have my eye on, in this weather it would be perfect!Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

Actually, I did mean shi--Citroen, but I was trying to remember if it was the Saxo or the Corsa that the companies started it first with and have clearly written it back to front.
Perhaps it was the Ford Clio, I can't remember.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

In which part of my post did I allude it wasn't? I was using the term denoting the genre.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

this part. you seem to suggest that chavvy hot hatches started after vauxhall started offering free insurance on a car they never designed, built or sold....work permit granted!0 -
The bit I told you was a simple mistake? O-kay....
I said that Hot Hatches then got the stereotype of being chavvy, I never said that is when they started being called Hot Hatches.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
