Lucielle's right! There are loads of free offers for business banking (I get talked to about them all the time as part of mystery shopping
) but if you're a sole trader, you don't need business banking. Some of the online tariffs stay free after the introductory period, but don't make it the first thing you do. The worst things that can happen when you use your own personal account for your work is:
(1) if you get audited by the Inland Revenue, they might come across your subscription to, say, Glamorous Nightwear Monthlyand ask about it.
(2) when you go into the bank, you may be pestered every now and then to open a business account. You don't have to, you just say no thanks.
Thats it!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just thought I'd point out, that even if you have a business you don't actually have to have a busineess account, you get better rates for loans etc but they also charge for paying in and cheques etc. However I think Lloyds might be doing free banking for a year. HTH

Thanks for the above :AI need to investigate bank accounts more I know HSBC are doing a free business account for 18 months and as I bank with them that would be easier. The reason why I thought it would be better to open a business account was to prove to suppliers that I am in business so that I get the trade discounts. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Well I have quizzed my friend and she has been very helpful she is going to get back to me with contacts and she will take some business cards to distribute (after I get OD to design a logo) and she will also place a link on her website when I get mine up and running which has to be the next step she has also invited me to go to a trade show with her in February:T
I have today set up a separate business email address which I have after a bit of a struggle got to work in outlook 2007 and I have also managed to set up rules in outlook so that messages in and out of that account go to separate folders from my personal emails so I am feeling pretty pleased with myself.:D
The secret has also arrived the book is heavy and looks impressive (could be a case of never mind the quality but feel the weight but I don't think so :rotfl:) but only got to read a few pages before my friend arrived so will make some time later to read it.

TOM came early
I am going to wallow today as I can't find any positive vibes for the universe today
Will try again tomorrow

Long time lurker coming out of the woodwork - I have read the whole of your thread DT

Oh no .... your little GD. I can't find words to express how sad I feel for you..... of course you can't find positivity at the moment, of course you've been crying all day, that really is the most natural thing in the world. And I'd guess your TOM came early from the stress of it all, plus the lingering stress at missing the wedding.
Your grief just has to run its course, DT, give it and yourself some time, be gentle with yourself as you are right now, hopefully. And can I just make one suggestion? Drink lots of water - I know it sounds like a complete non sequituur, but truly, when you're crying like that, you can dehydrate yourself, and that just makes you feel even worse. Just glug a couple of glasses between now and bedtime, and take some paracetemol too.
I hope you get some sleep, and you can start to come back from quite those depths of despair.
I'll be thinking of you, with love.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I can only echo what KC says DT. Soft hugs. xxBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
And how could you have known? You can't possibly have that level of knowledge and ability all the time, DT. You did the best you could, and on the day it wasn't meant to be.
I know how you feel - my dad died of a DVT - aspirin could have saved him. But I have to remind myself that we had no way of knowing that until it was too late.
((hugs))
Wallowing is good - but def give yourself a time limit for it xxxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
