jenniferpa wrote:Well yes, that's how TC's work. But if they've been signed in those 2 places, and made payable to a specific person I wonder how easy it would be for yet a third person to cash them or pay them into a bank account. Just so I'm making myself clear, I sign them "jenniferpa" at the bank, sign them again "jenniferpa" and fill out the payable line to "vendor". Could "thief" cash them or pay them into an account?

If they are double signed on the front then they are effectively cash aren't they as anyone could use them? You can't add a payee, or at least not on the American Express ones i have here. Anyway, the OP would still have to persuade the seller to take them, and for me as a seller I would refuse as it is getting a bit too close to the various foreign bank drafts/postal orders scam.
The auction stated bank transfer only, and the seller is entitled to stick to that.

Ah, that must vary - mine do have a payee linesoolin wrote:Anyway, the OP would still have to persuade the seller to take them, and for me as a seller I would refuse as it is getting a bit too close to the various foreign bank drafts/postal orders scam.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten/not considered the banker's draft scam. I absolutely agree with you anyway - a vendor is perfectly entitled to stick to the stated auction terms.
Thanks
