Old Style 24 May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning everyone  We had a busy day, yesterday, so I went ot bed early, slept really well, and here I am :j We started our sausage-making yesterday, which was fab. I did the mixing and DH twisted the sausages as they came out of the machine.

We spent the afternoon in the garden - it's growing beautifully, and I managed to mow the lawn
, plant out beans and sweetcorn, and do loads of weeding

Morning.
Nice sausages Penelope. I used to be a butcher and they look very presentable. Hope they ate as well as they look.
Warm and dry here. Cornwall is full of tourists and hopefully our economy will be taking in the money...
Church today and then laze about in the garden. Will probably BBQ something later, not sure what yet as had no inspiration in Morrisons yesterday. Dropped in on the way home, but nothin jumped out at me....
There was one thing though. They were reducing all their in store roasted chickens and stuff. One customer bought everything. A trolley full of reductions. Do you think that was greedy? I do.
Got more baby chickens here. They are everywhere now... 33 in total all different ages... I will sell them on later and hopefully add to the holiday fund.. Lots of work feeding them though....
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Glorious morning here - I have been up since 4 this morning and have been listening to the birds and watching the sun rise - lovely and peaceful.........till the Police helicopter started circling nearby for some reason - seemed to be in the direction of the motorway so I hope there was nothing serious happened. Seems to be gone now so hopefully everything ok
Just seen a weather forecast and it is supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far so I def think BBQ is the order of the day:beer:, it is my DSiL's birthday so might see if they fancy joining us. Love days like this - makes you feel so much better.:T:T:T
Hairdresser is coming at 12.00 so I hope she is not too long sorting me out so I can get organised - need to nip to Asda before she gets here to pick up some meat and more wine and soft drinks just in case. Happy Days!!!!:D:D:D

Good Lord Penny, what a fright you gave me. I thought for a minute that N9Eav had started the thread with another gratuitous tackle shot. _pale_.
;) Seriously, they look amazing. :T
Cloudy here today but hopefully no rain as i forgot to put the wasahing on the pulley last night on my way to bed so it's lying in a sodden heap on the draining board.
Then it's more gardening on the cards. We bought 2 small cherry trees yesterday so they need to find homes today and i have things to pot on in the greenhouse. if it stays dry we will hopefully manage a walk in the woods with the dog.
No idea what's for tea. I bought loads of lovely veg yesterday to have with a roast but i forgot to buy the roast and the butcher is closed.
Off to the garden with my coffee and see if any of my slug murdering tactics have worked.

Morning everyone.
Lovely sausages Penny - clever you!
Halight - hope you enjoyed your day without the twins but I bet it felt very quiet!!
Caravans - oooh I love them but DH doesn't. Realistically, with his snoring, I'd have nowhere to escape to though
Bright and sunny here. Have a load of dark things to put into WM.
Need to sort out my clothes and begin packing as |I'm off on Tues to Scotland to stay with DD in Edinburgh and also see DS in Glasgow. Need to get stuff ironed today.
Garden needs a tidy - grass to cut and borders to tidy up + heather to plant (haven't got round to it yet).
We had half the butcher's steak pie yesterday so Sunday lunch it going to be easy today - the other half + the left over potatoes (made a lot deliberately) mashed + some veg.
Might give my aunty a ring. My uncle is 91 and has dementia so it's not easy for her to cope. She is one of life's copers though and does extremely well. I'm looking forward to moving back to Scotland so we can see them more often.
Ok folks, off to get washing on. Am on 2nd cup of teaand I've had a slice of toast. Has everyone else's Bakers Oven become Greggs? The seedy bread is fantastic. £1.55 though:eek:. I have plans to get a breadmaker but realistically not for a while

Good morning everyone - what a beautiful morning it is :j
Penny - your bangers look great
N9eav - you sound like you've got your hands full with all those chicks
Need to stick the BM on in a mo, followed by the WM. Lots of inside jobs to do, but I'm thinking of saving them till tomorrow as the weather's supposed to be shocking then. Oh also need to finish dying my hair  Did the base colour last night, need to do the highlights today - at least the greys are covered now
B: Coffee
L: Scrambled eggs on toastHM curry or lasagne
Baking wise - bread as mentioned earlier, flapjacks and cherry bakewell cake
Have a great day everyoneSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning all,
I bought 2 YS ducks and a free range chiken y/day at Sainsbugs for £8.20. I cut the breasts off the ducks & chicken and vacume sealed them. Pot roasted the ducks & chicken stripped the meat off to make 2 loaf tins of meat loaf. I'll line with streaky bacon and layer duck, spinach, sage&onion stuffing then chicken. Still have enough chick left to make a cobbler. Boiled gibblets for stock.
So that's 6 meals with the breasts and 4 meals of chick cobbler and 8 meals of meatloaf. 18 meals for £8.20.
I did some gardening y/day DH mowed the lawn and washed the car.
I'm sat on the patio looking at clear blue skies with DH reading the papers and our resident robins for company, they are so tame the have been hoping in and out of the kitchen.
Just emailed a freecycler who has 2 potted bay trees for offer and wants some wood primer & undercoat, both of which I have so hoping to do a swop. Always wanted bay trees either side of the front door. Fingers crossed.
Today we will meet up with DFriends for a lunch time pint at our local, She has finished the first course of Chemo so it's a waiting game to see if it's worked. I'm going to help her paint their bedroom on Tuesday as she gets quite tired and can't do it herself. I'm sort of retired painter & decorator so shouldn't take long.
Phone just rang, a woman was sobbing and pleading for help. She has water cascading through her ceiling into the bedroom, I told her to turn the stopcock off. Relayed the plea to DH (retired plumber) so he's going out on a mission of mercy. Poor woman sounded distraught, I'll go with DH now and see if I can help clear up.
Catch yah later.0
