Ive been on PAYG for years and have always been with o2 as tgheir reception is best where i live.

Ive found this deal on a contract, what do you think?

o2: £25 per month for 24 months, with LG viewty phone free, 600 mins and unlimited texts, plus free gift from the following
12 months FREE
£225 Auto Cashback
Free Xbox 360 Elite
Free Toshiba Web Book
Free Nintendo Wii
Free Nintendo DSi
Free Jawbone Headset
Free Sony DAB Radio

Plus £40 cashback from Topcashback so long as it tracks

Will i likely be tied in still after the 24 months, or will i be able to cancel and keep the phone and freebie?

Thanks for any advice in advance

    12 months FREE?
How does that work if you only get £225 back automatic - that is 9 months FREE.

And if its 9 months free I make it £600 to pay over 24 months, with cash back etc total you is £335.

Bit much but if you want the xbox ...... DAB radio (thats not a good one - prefer the mp3/dab combo if I had to get one myself)

    Oops I read it wrong

    12 months FREE
    £225 Auto Cashback
    Free Xbox 360 Elite
    Free Toshiba Web Book
    Free Nintendo Wii
    Free Nintendo DSi
    Free Jawbone Headset
    Free Sony DAB Radio

Out of those "gifts", the most tempting probably is 12 months free so £300 over 24 months with extra £40 topcashback makes that £260.

But the viewty is old phone as it is - surely you could get a straightforward 12 or 18 month contract fo rless than £260.

If you went for some of the other gifts, the most expense prob the Tosh and xbox (around £200 but then your cost is £360 roughly over 12 months.

The DAB radio is worth £40 I think - thats the worst gift.

Nintendo Wii - prob cost less than £200 retail so again you would end up paying around £400 for 24 months contract.

None of them appeal to me.

And yes if you went for one of these "offers" - you will be able to keep the freebie and mobile after 24 months.

Think about it first - consider shorter contract and get your freebie as a separate retail purchase from somewhere.

Ok thanks for that, it looked tempting, but now you've put it like that, it doesnt look so appealing!

Im desperate for a phone as mine is nearly dead. Ive no idea on phones and wouldnt have a clue what to get lol I just like the look of the viewty.

So to get a good phone on a 12 or 18 month contract would i be best ringing 02 direct?

You don't need to go direct to o2.

I am not sure which LG viewty you mean there seem to two versions - a new version on dialaphone I just seen is LG Viewty Smart - the old version would not be worth it - but I dont know much about either.

Dialaphone, phones4u offer good deals - I went for the LG cookie on 12 months contract with t-mobile (cheap deal honest) - I was with o2 but I found t-mobile was gonna work out cheap as chips for me. Check the deals on dialaphone.

The only thing I miss with o2 was free voicemails - but seems there is a workaround with t-mobile for that so I don't get charged (within monthly allowance). Was looking at some deals on Three which tempted me - free internet with nokia e63, e71 - just went for t-mobile cos it was whole lot cheaper.

Thanks. Im all confused with it all. I cant seem to get a 12 month contract with 02 (i need o2 due to signal)
Ive now decided i like the LG Arena, which i can get for £25 per month same deal as before but 15 months half price. but yet again its a 24 month contract.

    so if im correct thats
    15 months at 12.50 = £187
    9 months at 25= 225
    = 412
    - 40 Topcashback =372

    372 / 24 = £15.50 average cost per month

    sounds quite good to me

This is a cashback deal. Since you're obviously a complete novice I'd concern yourself with researching how THOSE work and the pitfalls as well as the dealer, rather than worrying about which phone to get!

As for Topcashback - in my experience they are a useless and totally unreliable site. The cashback promised is ofen MONTHS out of date and you only find THAT out AFTER you've ordered. When it tracks it never updates and queries aren't dealt with. But it's your dime...!

Ok thanks for that. I do understand that i have to pay the full amount each month i.e £25 and im reimbursed at intervals throughout the 24 months. TBH im thinking it may be just easier to stay on PAYG as it seems a mine field where contracts are concerned

You are only reimbursed if you make the claims at the right times and in the right way - and are prepared to sue should they not cough up.

Sounds like you're looking at Mobiles.co.uk; if so, they are part of cpw so are unlikely to go bust - that doesn't mean they are completely trustworthy though. Even if they were now (which they definitely aren't!) they might not be in 6 months time, that alone 18!

I have decided to take out a contract with t-mobile £25 per month, for 600 mins and unlimited txts, plus £40 cash back with topcashback ( i think) and the Nokia 5800
I decided it was a safe bet doing it this way and not through a 3rd party who *may* have to stop trading for one reason or another

Have you thought about Tesco Mobile, as they use the o2 network?
