lol I guess from your lack of information you must be a Windows user (no offence intended, just an educated guess). What version of Windows are you running?

A big culprit are processes that begin "svchost.exe" - in fact there are system services and often can't be terminated from the Task Manager (you need to go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services) and stop any that you don't need. Please don't just stop them all as you will likely break your installation, Windows will force you to restart and that will be the last you see of it without a technician call out :-\ Don't stop what you don't know, it will give you a description so if it's obviously unneeded then stop it, if you don't know it's best left alone though

One of the programs or services running may be interfering with your game. You may also like to check your scheduled tasks also.

Memtest86 is a great program! If you download the latest Knoppix CD (from https://www.knopper.de), it has various test utilities available for you to start on the bootable CD (memtest86 being one of them). You can also start Linux live-on-CD and see if it reports any hardware problems that Windows might not be telling you about.
