There are a couple of bootsales where I live which are full of people selling things out of the back of white vans. If the police arrive they desperately throw all their stock in the back and drive off in a panic!

I am put off going to boot sales if I don't think there are going to be lots of private sellers. I think some of them are just starting to look like markets. I have been put off craft fairs for the same reason. I have gone to so many and then discovered that there are very few craftspeople/artists there and most of the stalls are run by companies selling the sort of rubbish you see on TV shopping channels.

I hate that meat van and his lame jokes.

We always see loads of chavvy types selling counterfeit DVDs and CDs, which attract the even chavvier types. All these stalls are always situated in the same row, along with the burger wagons. We call this bit "Scumbag Alley".

Its a shame that bootsales have degenerated into this.
Originally the places were full of genuine people just selling what they didnt want. I have had some fabulous bargains from them.
And just an observation. i have never been to a car boot sale where there hasnt been at least one of those foot spa things. :rotfl:
'Fraid i just walk quickly past the 'New, Dvd, meat vans.
    Takes me half the time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I know that the larger CB sales are like this, a few out of towner ones Ive been to have loads of plants & market stalls selling biscuits/ crisps/ boxes of chocs.

Ive jsut been to a smaller one this morning on a college car park. there were no traders, (apart from a couple of blokes selling old tools/ stereos- who buys these  )which was really good, just normal people selling thier own stuff.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

The one that we go to is probably about 70 per cent people getting rid of rubbish though not everything cheap as people tend to know what they want for stuff these days
A couple of vans that sell just electric goods
A couple of food vans selling burgers a dinky donuts and an ice cream vans
1/2 dealers who always seem to be there
There is a fruit/veg stand but that is outside the car boot
I love our local one as there is always people selling books for 50p so I save a fortune
There was a pick/mick van selling quarters but he didnt turn up this week kinda dissapointed as i wanted some choclate nibbles
There is now one stand that comes and makes pandora type braclets with the nice beads for £10.50 and you pick what you want on it
Someone was selling links of london which i heard was a good make pretty but dont know enough about them so it could have been fake

I hate going to a car boot sale full of dealers, I tend to just walk past without even looking at their stuff. My favourite has banned all new goods/counterfeits and it's so much better. Normal people selling their old junk, I love it!

My BF :rotfl:We've got a shed full of car radios and car bits!

McKneff, I know what you mean about those foot spas. Think we must be the only household in the UK without one.

The other things you always see are those dance mats, Jordon/Victoria Beckham/Robbie Williams autobiographies, Phil Collins "No Jacket Required" albums and mountains of pink baby clothes.

Not all dealers know the price of their items (what their items are worth), i have still picked up items of dealers and managed to sell them on for more ;). One off sellers (people having a clear out) are best though.
  • The regular/weekly sales have the traders & dealers so I tend to avoid these and go for the ones held once or twice a year at local schools/sports clubs type of thing. I do think though that prices people are asking for thinks seems to be going up!
