i was with scottish power for just over 1 year, they kept on raising my monthly direct debit without informing me..apart from trying to contact them lots of time without any success..i decided to switch..i then got a call from sp,he told me if i stayed with them i would get a good deal,..and it all sounded good so i said i would stay....a few days later i changed my mind..i then got a call from them and they were very rude to me,and bullying..i was so shocked i put the phone down without getting his name...i wrote to them with a letter of complaint..i then recieved a bill of £276..which i do not owe as i paid £112 monthly..a week after i recieved a threatening letter from a collections source threatening court..and said they will be adding £250interest..these people are disgusting bullies...what ever you do please dont switch with these thugs..just a warning:p

The supplier must give the required notice befor attempting to collect an amount not previously advised.
If they collect any more than the amount they have notified the customer, the customer simply contacts their bank for a full & immediate refund....a week after i recieved a threatening letter from a collections source threatening court..and said they will be adding £250interest...
Why don't you start talking to SP, agree what you owe & pay them? The fact it's got to the collection agency stage means alot more has happened than you suggest."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I switched to Scottish Power last year,to enable me to fix the prices for about 3 years.Although i was happy with Atlantic,i heeded the warnings about prices going sky high.
They did put my DD up but i rang them and immediately they agreed to a small increase instead.Since then i have found them easy to contact, and the means of entering your own readings online, and getting an instant bill,so you can see what you have used,is brilliant.
i have been very happy with them. Please don't slag them off and call them thugs, just because of your own experience.Every company has it's faults, but i cannot understand why you are having so many problems contacting them,I have found them to be very courteous and helpful.0 -
I am a returning customer to SP, having gone via the quidco inducement of £100 and everything is running very smoothly. I used to be with them and always found them top class to deal with. I am polite to them and they are polite to me. It is a two way process and I am always on top of how much energy I use and of potential bills and I got the dd adjusted accordingly with no problem at all
OP comes across as not telling the whole truth0 -
yeah I find it odd hearing Scottish Power called 'thugs'. I've been a customer of theirs for years, and have never had any trouble whatsoever. Online billing means it is very easy to keep track of what you're using, what you should be spending and bills explain fully when DDs are being changed. I agree there's more to this story.0
