Yes, willo, I think this is where people are starting to get into a pickle.

OP If you/your OH have been paid in the past by BACS the bank will see the money coming and it will generally be credited to your account in the wee hours.

However, if you are now being paid by FPS the bank can't see the money coming, and it can arrive anytime throughout the day depending on when your employers decide to hit the button.

Ideally they should be making payment the day before payday to ensure the money is there for the payment of DD's in the wee hours, or you need to move your DD's to a day later.

on a bank holiday weekend everything that should go out on a monday has to be assumed to go out on the friday before.
Same with benefits for monday they go in on friday before too.
You need more of a buffer too, then if things go wrong(which they didn't this time) you won't go overdrawn.
