Hi,
I would like to call one vodaphone mobile number for up to an hour most days off-peak (the person I'm calling can't get a landline where they live). I'm trying to work out the cheapest option for calling them either from my landline or by buying a mobile and just using it to call them (I already have a PAYG mobile which I rarely use on T-mobile).
Using Martin's cunning suggestions in his article, it looks like I can get 4p a minute off-peak from my landline, but having poked around a bit, it seems like the vodafone 'stop the clock' tariff or perhaps a new phone with 'free' minutes might be a good bet.
Any suggestions?
Natalie

Welcome
It looks like you've already got the choices sized up, either 15p on Vodafone payg or inclusive minutes on a contract.
There is an Orange contract with 1000 off-peak all-network minutes that you can find on cashback deals, although it's rumoured that it will be phased out. Or you can also register for stop-the-clock on Vodafone contracts, which means you'd only use 3 minutes a day from your total.
If you go for payg, your phone would need probably unlocking from its network. If it's a Nokia, you can get help with this on a thread at the top of the board0 -
cant you go for vodafones Stop The Clock tarrif, talk for 1 hour, pay for just 3 minutes? seems a much cheaper option as the OP said they wanted to call off-peak.
There's always sim-card deals going on around the MSE, in fact I think I have a couple of brand new unused VDF sim cards if you would like one for nothing.. Drop me a PM if thats the way you want to go£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -
Cheaper than the 15p I mentioned - or the same thing?5limJim wrote:cant you go for vodafones Stop The Clock tarrif, talk for 1 hour, pay for just 3 minutes? seems a much cheaper option as the OP said they wanted to call off-peak.
Please read my post before arguing against it.0 -
Thanks for all your input. I bought the cheapest handset I could find on vodafone and have been using Stop the Clock which seems right for what I want it for.

You can register for 18185 and pay 5p/min plus 4p connection during weekdays from a BT landline to UK mobiles.
