Don't know how this ruling will affect this site at all, but thought it might be worth a look.

Basically a woman was ordered to pay damages for making defamatory comments in an internet chat room.

Thats all we need isnt it. Okay some people go over the top but the real people who benefit from this are the lawyers of this world.

Note sure if its this person, but a search comes up with that name

Just read it quickly but it says it's a chatroom not a forum. There's a big difference between the two.

I don't think that specific event will affect this site and these forums, but I'm not a lawyer so you never know.

Forums are worse than chat rooms as the record of whats said is there for months afterwards.

I could count a few times when I might have had a case against someone else on a forum.
