You don't need to rip it. That's only needed for audio CDs, which have a different format than data CDs.

If you insert the CD and USB pendrive into another computer, you can just open both - if Windows, from My Computer - and drag and drop (or copy and paste) all of the files from CD to pendrive. Make sure that hidden and system files are displayed, or you may miss out some of the files.

Is this for a router, or a modem? The former doesn't need software.

In amongst the files you will find the shortcut for "Connect and Go" just start it off with that, it runs the wizard. You will need some information at hand that you got in a letter from TalkTalk to enter into the settings.

You can set up without software if you know certain information. The software is so you can get into the modems settings and set/reset certain security information etc.

Depends what laptop you have will dpened on the CD/DVD drive you will need. They are fairly standard apart from the small brackets and possible issues for some models. Most recently though are pretty well standard and cost about £30max, although I got one off of ebay for a friend for £11.
    Nothing to see here
