Solicitor question

Hi,

I am aware that solicitors dont act for the sale and purchaser of a property but would they act for you as a seller of 1 property and a buyer of another?

Thanks

They act for one client. In the example you've set out, the client is one and the same person so not only is the answer "yes" it's to be expected.

Others have already said yes which is right but I have often despaired when sellers decide they want to appoint different solicitors for each function. I still do not have a clue as to why (something to do with not putting all eggs into one basket????) as by adding extra people into the mix it can take more time:confused:

    yes, they do.
and also Conveyancers can act on both sides as long as all parties agree and different people within the office deal with the two sides.

Thanks everyone. So if we ever have our offer accepted I can give our current solicitors details out.

Agreed! I am using the same solicitor for both but it didn't stop the EA I'm buying through trying to persuade me to use their solicitor for the purchase! This may well be why some people have 2 different ones acting for them.

Disgusting as I realise that some agents are as bad as some of the MP's we're readingabout. We never do what you say. I must of been very stupid as I was only concerned about earning the commission, from the seller, from the sale. Doubt I would of lasted long if I had been working for a bigger agent:D
