The OP is partly right but, if you want to sell, taking it off the market isn't going to help.
Just wait for that [strike]mug[/strike] one person to come along who loves your house and laugh all the way to the bank (if it's still there).
Some people like other people to look around their homes. I guess that now that they don't have any dinner parties (nothing to talk about) it gives them something to do at weekends.

This statement lacks relevance seeing as the OP is about why people cannot sell, not about areas of the market that are "understocked" which I am taking your word for btw
