I know what the situation you are in feels like. PayPal just seem to either send automated responses so they don't look into your case much. They also follow set procedures which are very annoying when, like you said, you don't have some of the paperwork needed.

I'm sure if you persist with PayPal they will give in and sort it out with the information you gave to them, which I would have thought is enough! :mad:

I'm getting married in September and never thought of paypal issues when I change my name. Is there any way I can get round it before hand?

Is it possible to close the paypal account and then open a new one in my new married name once its all sorted? I'd make sure there was nothing in there beforehand. Is this possible?

I never knew they allowed you to have multiple identities. I thought you'd probably have to be pretty quick about it because otherwise they would find out.

Or maybe that's completely wrong and you are allowed multiple accounts and someone is about to point me in the right direction...

i would recommend you then close your ist account as you might get paypal linking both accounts and asking all sought of questions. That wouldnt be a problem if there customer serivce was up to speed with there reponse and more helpful.

would a joint bank account be ok for withdrawing money ?

Joint accounts work fine.

Hi, Why not give them a call on 001-402-935-2050 I am sure you could sort it out on the telephone, after all this sort of thing must happen every day. You should of course use https://www.call18185.co.uk for the international call at 1/2p a minute and not the rip off 0870 number PayPal want you to use.

I have had a nightmare with paypal over this issue. They wanted me to send my original marriage certificate to them. I said I wasn't comfortable sending the original through the post in case it got lost / damaged. Sort of at an impasse.

However thought you would be interested to know that my paypal account is in maiden name and bank account is in married name, but I can still download my money without any problem, so you should still be able to receive your money without a problem.

Thanks for the info flis21 that certainly solves a problem. Suppose I should really sort it out eventually but as long as I can get my money out
