Just explain that you couldn't leave the bargain behind, there's still loads to buy when he gets home?

If you mean go shopping for it together then personally I would tell my OH that I'd managed to pick up a few things reduced but agree to go together for the rest of the stuff you need.

Why should you feel guilty for making a sensible financial decision?

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Sorry, I'm still puzzled. Why does it matter if you buy (say) the skirt and shoes one day and the top and shirt later on? What's the advantage in buying everything at the same time?

I think I know what you mean...He wanted to be part of buying her outfit for her first day at school because it's special?

You may aswel tell him that you got some of it as it was half price but you want him to help her pick her bag and pencil case and stuff as you feel bad for buying it when he wasn't there?

Are you scared of him or something????
Seems like a desperate plea over something seemingly trivial

Oh, is that what this is about? Still doesn't make a lot of sense but more than the way I read it!

I think she means all go together to buy the uniform, Mum, Dad & daughter. I'm guessing because it's her first day at school the father wants to be part of the whole experience?

Yeah it seems to me that that's what the op is trying to say. I think she may be guilty for getting some of the uniform without her OH being there and now doesn't know whether to tell him or not.
