honeslty, could not care less, our house is 144950! so still have to pay for it! might be good for people in the North though

I know I've done it before but we need cheering up!
50 degrees - Southerners turn on the heating - people in Sunderland plant gardens. 40 degrees - Southerners shiver uncontrollably - people in Sunderland sunbathe. 35 degrees - Southern cars will not start - people in Sunderland drive with the windows down. 20 degrees - Southerners wear coats, gloves and wool hats, people in Sunderland throw on a T-shirt(girls start wearing mini-skirts). 15 degrees - Southerners begin to evacuate - people in Sunderland go swimming in the North Sea. Zero degrees - Southern landlords turn up the heat - people in Sunderland have the last BBQ before it gets cold. Minus 10 degrees - Southerners cease to exist - people in Sunderland throw on a lightweight jacket. Minus 80 degrees - Polar bears wonder if it's worth it - boy scouts in Sunderland start wearing long trousers. Minus 100 degrees - Santa Claus abandons the North Pole - people in Sunderland put on their long johns. Minus 173 degrees - alcohol freezes - people in Sunderland get frustrated because the pubs are shut. Minus 460 degrees - All atomic motion stops - people in Sunderland start to stamp their feet and blow on their hands. Minus 500 degrees - Hell freezes over - Sunderland avoid relegation!

Its good news for me as the offer on my flat was accepted last week at £123k which means I wont be having to pay the stamp duty saving myself £1230!
I may have misunderstood your post, but isn't it the buyer that pays stamp duty ?
    Not even wrong

What was the stamp duty beforehand?

Is it the buyer or seller that pays it?

Maybe you could work something out between you, cut the price to within the threshold and split the profit Morph3us

If I was your seller CD Man I'd raise the price of the flat to 124,999. But then I'm evil.

Funny that Brown doubles the stamp duty threshold before the election, then after it, hmm, practically nothing.

And I love how, during the "boom" years, he's saving absolutely nothing, ensuring that, during the lean years, the country will really be in the dumpster.

What a miracle man he is. If I ran my household along the same lines I think I'd be pursued by loan sharks at every turn.

Loved the story [again] distilled, only realised it was fiction right at the very end!
MORPH: AFAIK it will apply to completions that take place > 6 April onwards. Speak to your vendor about the offer being £125K for the property + £1K for carpets, curtains F&F.
