Does anyone know , is it possible to change the colour of my screen.
I have Vista and after going into 'control panel' and clicking 'appearance & personalisation' can choose from a load of colours for the top or bottom of the screen, but the main large centre window, can omly be either white or black.
I downloaded 'anycolour' on firefox yesterday but it only does the same.
I wanted some sort of pale shade that is less harsh when using the computer for long periods.
Thanks.

Thanks for that, i've tried everything, managed to fix colours for the headers; the footers; and all the lines and boxes around but the main windows for all sites, including this one, remain white.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Have you considered simply lowering the brightness of your monitor?0

It almost certainly wont be calibrated anyways. But if it WAS, then lowering the brightness would 'clip' black detail:idea:0 -

You can change this where a background colour is used in the html code rather than a background image.
In IE7 (other versions Of IE should be similar) you can change the colour of text and background by going to
'Tools' > 'Internet Options...'
On the 'General' tab -
In the Appearance section click on the 'Accessibility' button
In the pop-up window tick 'Ignore colors specified on webpages' then click OK.
Back on the 'General' tab -
In the Appearance section click on the 'Colors' button
In the pop-up window untick 'Use Windows colors'
You can then set your own choice of 'Background' colour.
In Firefox 3 you can change the colour of text and background by going to
'Tools' > 'Options...'
Click on the 'Content' tab
Under Fonts & Colours click on the 'Colours...' button
Untick both 'Use system colours' and 'Allow pages to choose their own colours...'
You can then change the 'Background' colour to one of your choosing.
But be warned you can make things worse... if you really want to!:cool:0 -

A decent monitor that was calibrated properly would mean it was the CONTRAST that needed turning down, not the brightness (Brightness is purely to get black levels correct, contrast is to get white levels as high as possible without 'clipping' them):idea:0 -
How would having a correctly calibrated monitor alleviate the symptoms of photophobia?0

It wouldnt. What im explaining is you wouldnt turn brightness down. Youd have to turn the contrast down (At least to keep the blacks correct):idea:0 -
Actually. I'll change that. If the levels are too high (Like in new tvs default settings) then calibrating WILL help against photophobia (As well as lower electricity bills):idea:0
