first of all congratulations, i studied sage from september 05 to summer 06, did levels 1 and 2 but i don't know how this compares to yours:
level 1 was really basic, no entry qualification as such, only being able to use a computer, it was basic data entry and balancing, the exam was an hour, i finished in 14 minutes i think and got first class pass (our exam boards highest grade), second one was harder, longer exam, took me roughly half an hour, some students got fast tracked through both in the timescale for the first one but i wouldn't recommend this as level 2 is harder, i got first class pass in that too
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

all your base are belong to us

THANKS! All 3 of my exams lasted 1 1/2 hours each. My first exam you either passed or failed, I passed. The second one was easier IMO and you either failed, passed or got a credit (the best result apparently) and I got a credit. The third exam you either passed or failed and I passed. Can I ask what examining board you did your exams with?

My new position at work means i really need to learn to use Sage line 50, however it's a new package the director has just bought, and no one in the office has any experience with it. He is quite happy to pay for me to have training, and i would prefer to do distance learning as i can do the course at work, so i just wondered who you did yours through Jo4? or can anyone recommend a company? Many thanks)

    Hi There
Check your local colleges they may run courses. Also, do you have accountancy qualification? IF not, why not get your boss to pay for that too - unless you already have relevant qualifications? (Something like the Association of Accounting Technicians).

Sometimes, whilst SAGE is doing all the number crunching, you could get a false picture of things if you don't know what all the accounts actually mean and how they are constructed. For example, do you know what a control account is, what it's used for and how it's constructed and where the figures come from?

    Just a thought

I completed mine through a local college. Sorry I cannot recommend a company but I hope someone on here can help you and will respond shortly.

    Hi There

SAGE have their own training centres too, here's a list:

    http://www.sage.co.uk/productsandservices/home.aspx?tid=131921&stid=138774

Oh yes, try your accountants, they may be able to tell you where the baest local training is. Hope this helps you

    hi there

i work work a eu prject which provides free computerised accounting classes (sage) we offer 2 level beginners which covers basic book keeping and sage level 1 and 2 the other course covers everything plus level three.

you do not need any previous qualifications but for some people a bit of basic accounting terminology might be an advantage but definately NOT necessary. you will do fine. good luck

    Hi all,
I've just found this site and I'm thinking of doing a Sage course. Does anyone have a direct link to a course similar as above?
Some of the college prices are close to extortionate, so I'll be grateful for any reasonably priced courses that I can apply to and I won't have to live on cold beans while I'm studying. Thanks :)

I am interested in trying to find out about a Sage course as well. I did have someone come round from Home Learning but they wanted in the region of £2.5k for the course.

Any pointers in the right direction gratefully received.

I have taken Level 2 in book-keeping with International Assoc of Book-keepers. However, that was several years ago so would need to refresh.
    £2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

    Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz

Having looked at Sage 50 and Sage 100 I must say there are much better accounting applications for small to medium sized businesses. We for example use Mamut centrally hosted, which I would recommend very much. The only advantage of Sage is that there are very many accountants who are used to it.
