For Virginmedia customers on 2MB, in case you are wondering when they are going to upgrade your service to 10MB, their timetable can be found here - http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginmedia/gofaster/timetable.php
As it mentions, you need to register for the upgrade, which you do here - http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginmedia/gofaster/

Altarf,
thanks for that 'cause I did not know I had to register assumed it would go ahead without any help from me.
Although my next door neighbour has had a speed increase up to 5mb (not sure where the other 5 has gone) me still on 2mb

You don't HAVE to register, it's a way of spreading the load.
People who are keen , register, get upgraded. Then the 'sweeping' up can continue according to the schedule, until October.
My area is not yet even on the schedule!
Presumably this reduces the pressure to change a whole area in one go.
I registered 2 weeks ago and was upgraded within 48hrs, and get a steady 9.75mbps.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
spud17 thanks for the reply seems to have worked registered on the 22nd and today yep up and running although just a bit short of 10mb0

Well done, I think that counts as a result!
Mine runs at 9.75/9.8mbps, best download has been 1.2Mb/sMove along, nothing to see.0 -
Why in God's name do they not put the area code number as that's what's on your bill! Idiots!
Anyway, since the literature I received ages ago said it would all kick off on 1st May and yesterday was the 23rd and still no upgrade for me I call them. Explained to the lady last time I call at beginning of May a block told me I could get the upgrade instantly but I would be paying more per month and would start a new contract. I politely told him where to stick that!
Yesterdays lady said oh well there's a difference between the "free upgrade because of the price increase of M broadband and the standard 10mb". She went on to explain she could upgrade me there and then also. I questioned this and explain what the previous guy had said. She said no I can just do the upgrade your entitled to. No contract or extra cost and that the guy at the beginning of May clearly wanted to sign me up for another 12 months as he gets something for that, and also the difference is that with the price increase one I get all the PC protect etc.
Result was basically that she said now if people ring up asking where the hell is my upgrade that they can do it on the spot. I have requested written confirmation from her that I will not be entered into a new contract and she agreed to that.
So, long story short.....phone if you've not had your upgrade. As soon as I turn my PC back on after the phone call the upgrade was there and I was on 10mb.
