Has this been discussed here before? I notice it pays 5% and no lower than the BOE Base Rate guaranteed until 2006. Accepts transfers in, but looking at the website maximum is £3,000, is this true or have I read this wrong??
Currently looking to transfer my Smile ISA paying 4.5% to either B&B, Halifax or A&L. Looking at the Halifax fixed rate ISA, does anyone know if this can be done online, or do I have to go into the Branch??

The Bradford and Bingley minimum opening deposit for their ISA is £1,000. Their website states:
"Additions can be made subject to ISA annual limits currently £3,000 per tax year".
This means that, you're allowed to add to your isa, provided that you stay within the permitted limits set by the Inland Revenue which is £3,000 per tax year. They also state that:
"Once opened transfers in of other Mini Cash ISAs can be accepted".
Therefore, you can transfer previous subscriptions into the isa.macca64 wrote:Currently looking to transfer my Smile ISA paying 4.5% to either B&B, Halifax or A&L. Looking at the Halifax fixed rate ISA, does anyone know if this can be done online, or do I have to go into the Branch??
I've just checked the Halifax Fixed Rate ISA webpage. There is an 'Apply Now online' link on the right of the page. Clicking on it takes you through to the fixed rate ISA online application form. The minimum opening balance for this isa is £3,000.Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
Hi
I've just opened a Halifax ISA this morning over the phone (5%). It only took a few moments and the woman was really friendly. I can now go down to the branch today and pay in the money. Not sure about the internet - in how long it takes to set things up. They gave me my account details over the phone. The only thing I was unsure on was whether to lock the money in with them for 1 year or four years - she did tell me I could close the account, or transfer ( so I am confused as to how it is locked)
Good luck with your transaction0 -
Taken from the Halifax website RE: 1 year fixed rate;
"Early closure or transferring out to another ISA manager is allowed with loss of interest"
Hope this helps.2014 running challenge 587.4 miles / 250 miles0
