Am i just being stupid or would you think that if the idiots at Lloydstsb put a block on my debit card, they would at least have the courtousy to contact us and let us know???
Story is, we have had large sum of money (may i say this is a one off) paid into our joint account last Friday. Over the weekend we have been in the process of transferring it out into savings accounts etc...also have had a bit of a shopping trip on Sunday. Now i know we have spent alittle more than we would on a average month, so maybe the flags were raised and they had shown some concern!!! However if they were concerned surely they should have called me and enquired about the transactions. My husband got blocked whilst internet banking and they called him and after some q's allowed the transaction to go ahead (how decent when its our bl@@dy money!!).
I've tried using my card today and it was rejected, so went into local branch. They said it had been blocked, but phoned someone in fraud up and supposidly block had been removed!! Well, what do you know tried it again this evening and its still blocked. Spoke to someone myself and he said yes its blocked, but he would now remove it.....When i asked do you not think it would be an idea to let me know when they blocked it?? He replied NO, its not there job to do this. They have far too many customers to have to call everytime someones card gets blocked. He also came out with alot of other rubbish at which point I lost it:mad: and said that they were doing me a favour by providing me with a bank card to use!"!!!!
I feel like a criminal trying to spend my own money!!
Whats that all about???

So if someone had stolen your debit cards, had transferred money across to different accounts and spent loads of money in shops you wouldn't be angry if they didn't block you card?
Right.0 -
No, thats not what i'm saying, what i mean is if they block it shouldn't they let me know???:silenced:0

How do you know they didn't try?
To be honest you're angry because they didn't phone you. Seems a bit of a waste of some angryness if you ask me lol.0 -
Um, maybe because my phone didn't ring???? And they told me that THEY DON'T HAVE TO CONTACT ME and that they hadn't????
I am angry, both myself and husband don't mind them being vigilant, like i said i have spoken to their fraud office as has my husband, i have been into my local branch and a neighbouring towns branch and everytime have explained where the money had come from, what we intended to do with it and that large sums would be moving around. What annoys me is what if i had done a weeks food shopping or filled my car up????? And then card was rejected!!! In the supermarket I'd look a bit of a plank and at petrol station I would get accused of trying to steal??UM..also i had already spoken to someone this afternoon who said they had removed block and by 7 it was still on there....
But again, my card was blocked, they had reason to suspect my transactions, why didn't they contact me to enquire about it???
Trust me i ain't being funny or awkward, just don't think this is acceptable customer service:silenced:0 -
Well it is fine, simple as.
Why didn't you inform them that you will be moving around a lot of money?0 -

Ok, so are you trying to wind me up too?? As i said above, I have told them that we would be moving large amounts around!!!!
Do you work for LLoyds???
There is probably no point in me continuing with this conversation, thanks for the advice but no thanks:silenced:0 -
No of course I don't. I just can't believe your complaining about something thats normal practice, and is advised, among all banks.
Better to be safe than sorry.
No problem.0 -

However as Lokolo says, you would be a darn sight more angry if they weren't vigilant.
i think if you hadn't had such a rude response from the person you spoke to on the phone you might not be so angry so why don't you do something about it?
Write to the CEO (before he leaves:rotfl:) and ask for an explanation of the attitude of his staff.
Would be interesting to hear if he defends it.:eek:0 -
OK, yes I will be contacting someone to complain!
But i do think the point has been missed here, me being angry aside (which I may add i have calmed down now),-
Do you think that I should have at some point been contacted about the fact that they had put a block on my debit card???? And not have to wait until I had transactions in a shop refused???? This is after all the only way I can withdraw money out of my bank, especially if I can't get into the bank during the day????:silenced:0 -
Am i the only one disappointed to find that this thread doesn't have a pirate theme?0
