o2 blackberry bolt-on use on non-blackberry phone (HTC HD)
Options
Hi,
I recently upgraded my phone on o2 to a blackberry and had the blackberry bolt on added to my tarrif. I started to use the interent on my HTC HD phone before I received the blackberry (bolt on had been activated on account) and was under the impression that internet would be free even though it wasn't a blackberry...Well I got my bill which was over £150+ !! Called up o2 and explained that I thought it was unlimited not just on my blackberry, they are very kindly going to recalculate the bill and deduct internet charges now thankfully.
The kind lady on the phone said I could ONLY use the internet on a blackberry...
Wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else? I just assumed I use the normal internet settings the HTC HD picked up..do I change anything or do I have to switch to normal web-bolt on to use the internet on my HTC phone.
Thanks

I spoke to the retentions line a second time after upgrading (to enquire about another contract), and asked them to convert my Blackberry data bolt-on to a normal unlimited data bolt-on. They said the change would take effect within 24 hours, although I haven't received a bill to confirm if it has worked!
I think this is standard practice, as they immediately knew what I was talking about. Blackberry data allowances will not apply to any other device.0 -
you will need to go onto the normal web bolt on as with the blackberry bolt on they can only gurantee that it will go through blackberry internet if it is a blackberry device, even if the handset supports blackberry mail and you can get very high data bills (as you have found out!)The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:
